Yep and then when you call in England with a French accent, sometimes people think that you are telemarketing them from Northern Africa.
I remember that once that I called an English man for business and his son took the phone and replied: "Sorry, we don't need anything" and hung down the phone.

Believe me or not... but I had to recall three times until I reached my interlocutor.

Only once did the caller hang on - and that was for ten minutes!

2. Reply with "I'm so glad you called... Have I told you I've found Jesus?"

I was once called, early evening by a bouncy-sounding woman with an American accent...

"Hi, and how are you today..?" she sang.

"I've got Diarrhea....."

<Click> Line went dead...
If they want to speak to the homeowner about insurance policies etc just say "Do you mind if I call you back? It's just that I'm in a meeting with my parole officer at the moment..."

Pretending their line is really faint but that you`re interested in life insurance (For example) is a good one , as if convincing enough you can soon get them yelling down the phone for a fair few minutes. Which must hurt their vocal cords no end
Or you let them drone on and on about double glazing while (On here) being nothing but interested. Then when they want to arrange a visit for an estimate you give them your landlords number.
Nothing beats acting like your own line is playing up though and so you`re Only .... To .... Every .... Word

Bah what annoys me is cutting you to the bone weather

It`s a sensation made doubly worse if you`re knackered
Certainly if you`re not expecting what happened earlier .
Hail along with the icy winds.
The last forecast I heard before heading out was it`d be mild today.
Clueless bastards.
As usual

Really?

Auntie Beeb has been banging on about "the coldest week yet" for ages.

But the Daily Express has been predicting weather-related apocalypse again - like it does most days. Temperatures of -14 Celsius it says.

Maybe in the lowest glens of Scotland, but surely not here in London where burning laundered money keeps us toasty warm.

You should see her before she goes in to makeup.

That NHL players do not come to Olympic games this year.
Come on Bettman!!!! Why are you so unfair this time?
That's always the same problem with professional clubs in hands of owners... money.
Dirty money.

That's fun to watch Olympic teams with best players.

TV programmes being re-scheduled at a moments notice. *

What's the point if viewers who might be interested in watching the replacement programme don't know its on in advance? And obviously, this can be even more annoying for people who were looking forward to watching something on TV, only to find it's been taken off.

Alternatively, the series you are recording suddenly comes to an unwelcome end, which usually happens to my HD machine in this situation.

* This has actually happened twice this week on BBC prime time TV.

You mean the latest & greatest hit American sitcom/drama
bought in the bargain basement sale from 3mil down to 200,000 an episode

The American studios like to undercut local production

That gets offed to a date unknown for the latest significant sporting event

You go on to the channels webpage for the show - lots of when will it be reappearing
with no replies

Like someone with knowledge of TV land said when i made the same point years ago
- our valued customers are the advertisers not the viewers
