Imagebam infected? Avast says with
html-inf on every link I am opening. Wasn't a problem yesterday. "False Positive" Any ideas mates, thanks?
Confirmed, a web search at Avast forums indicates it is blocking other image sites as well, not just my own system. Someone suggested it could be a mass site outtage but it is occuring with other sites. Has anyone else had issues accessing imagebam? With avast installed.

Don't know all your particulars. I use Firefox and have Kaspersky. Imagebam works fine for me and has for many days, weeks, months.

Speaking as a laptop repair tech..... Avast is as big a pile of doggy-do-do as you'll ever find...! Try something less fancy looking but that does the job... like AVG Free.
Spend more time removing Avast; along with Norton and McAfee; from laptops and replacing it with another anti-virus programme than anything else...

I use Firefox with Kaspersky anti-virus (and set on High security for operating in dangerous environments), and I have not encountered one single threat alarm or warning with Imagebam or imgbox images which Avast users are presently receiving.

It could be a change in avast's software code/"sensitivity". Another possibility is that imagebam and imgbox have perhaps altered some javascript running on their sites and that this "alarms" avast's software when it runs. That may explain why the blocking seems to occur after the image has completed display in the browser window... except that it leaves open/unexplained the oddity that it is not all image files on those hosts but only some that trigger/encounter this problem.

The same problem for me with Imagebam and Imgbox.
I completely trust Avast so I won't be removing it any time soon. However these warnings make using VEF pretty pointless at the moment because every time I've clicked on a thumbnail I've had a malware warning. Never mind. I'll come back next week and hopefully the infections or false positives will have been removed. |

I get a page pop-up like this but only when there are 'Adult' adverts on Imagebam:
Running Avast with Firefox.

That is entirely possible and a very plausible explanation. I use Malwarebytes Pro with Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit for zero-day threats and I have noticed that I sometimes (but not always) get 'redirects' or unwanted pop-ups when clicking on images. These are not stopped or reported by MWB as they appear to be unwanted advertising rather than anything more malicious. However, to be absolutely sure, I use Ctl/Alt/Delete to delete the process - and then clicking on the same image a second time usually takes me direct to the JPG without problem.
