Big Grin Only issue now got is I've a certain song currently locked in my head

This ,

Is a wonderfully slow burning delicately nuanced movie about mortality , stubbornness and retaining a sense of humour throughout .
Even if it`s a sense only you yourself get.
This was the late but forever great Harry`s final screen role and I`m so pleased he got to do it. As what an outstanding full stop to place on a sixty plus decade film career.

Not that everybody else isn't thoroughly believable .

It`s just HDS shines

Blimey, didn't think he was that old.

Bodom/Lake Bodom

IMDB
YouTube Trailer

A group of Finnish friends decide to go camping by Lake Bodom to do a reconstruction of the 1960 murders.

The perfect example of a movie which could have been really good but instead turned into an almost complete mess because of a stupid twist. I won't spoil the stoRy even if by telling you there's a twist I just kinda spoiled something, but Bodom aka Lake Bodom ruined itself after forty minutes.
The first half of the movie is interesting. The four teenagers aren't that annoying, the chicks are hot and most of all, the movie looks gorgeous! Finnish director Taneli Mustonen knows hot to shoot a horror flick and the photography is visually stunning.
But then comes a twist which wasn't needed at all. Bodom was supposed to be a classic but entertaining slasher with visuel value added but no! The writers thought they were smarter than the mass and the introduced a twist. It could have changed the core of the film but it's so so dumb that it really ruins it. And then, there is the final fifteen minutes which are trying to stick a little more to the slasher genre. But it's too late! Bodom remains a waste of talents just because some guys wanted to play smart ass.
Still, it's not the worst horror flick I've seen so far and once again, the photography makes it pretty watchable but too bad the script sucks. Next time, stay on the forest survival routine instead of trying to play bighead!

Dylan Dog Dead Of Night

IMDB
QYouTube Trailer

Dylan Dog is a private investigator specializing in affairs of the undead. His PI business card reads "No Pulse? No Problem." Armed with an edgy wit and carrying an arsenal of silver and wood-tipped bullets, Dylan must track down a dangerous artifact and protect a lovely young woman before a war ensues between his werewolf, vampire and zombie clients living undercover in the monster infested backstreets of New Orleans.

A 2010 adaptation of the comic hero of the same name. The film's really good, actually. Unfortunately we have to deal with a PG13 treatment so violence and sex have been soften very much but Brandon Routh & Sam Huntington make a cool pair of reluctant heroes trapped in a world of fantasy set in a modern New Orleans. Anita Briem plays the hot damzel-in-distress srt-of, Tay Diggs is having fun as a villain, the make-ups are nice, the mood is very cool and there's a twist which is relatively well used near the end regarding one of the characters. It lasts 100mn and is never boring. It could have been interesting to see a sequel but Dylan Dog was a huge flop at the Box Office. Cool film though.

I watched Spider-man Homecoming. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2250912/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider-Man:_Homecoming I didn't like it compared to the first one. Guess I missed some prequel films - Spider-man helped against Captain America? I'd give it 2.5 out of 5. The thing that bothered me the most was a fat Asian sidekick who talked too much. Since I am a fat Asian who talks too much, I should have liked it more, but I just wanted him to get off the screen every time he appeared.

I guess Tobey McGuire is too old for Spider-Man films now? I only watched the first two. I turned off the third one when I could not stand Kirsten Dundst's singing.

There's been an additional Spiderman film series since Tobey Maguire and before Spiderman: Homecoming! Played by some herbert called Andrew Garfield or something, with Emma Stone. They were god awful.

Gawd if I only knew the things I don't know now when I was ninety one

Seriously

Had to fight the urge to Wiki this at the hour mark as was that concerned for our lead.
Which only goes to show how good a story telling director S Craig (He of Bone Tomahawk) Zahler is.
Since I`m no fan of Vince Vaughn having seen him in a few too many movies where he plays the exact same fast talking glib character.
Actually I`d say that`s all he ever plays ?. Not that he doesn't give glimpses of that self same acting style in this.
Only here he`s darn convincing and you find yourself rooting for him from minute one.

Plays a former boxer who loses his job as a mechanic.
To give himself and his wife a chance at a life he takes a job as a drug courier.
Pretty foolish move on his part yet it seems to be working out . Only he exacerbates that foolish move by doing something bleeding stupid. Which takes him to prison.
Won't say anymore than that.
Best you don't peruse spoilers either so like me got to enjoy the surprises as they happened in this intensely watchable ultra fast paced film.

Damn is this violent at times movie an emotional roller coaster though

Atomic Blonde 2017

Starring Charlise Theron, who I've fancied for many years. She plays a spy sent to Berlin on some fairly idiotic mission just before the wall comes down and her acting and that of the others is really wooden and not much more than endless posing.

The soundtrack is largely ripped-off from the excellent German TV series Deutschland 83 and what will please some about this fairly shallow production are several lengthy ultra-violent sequences, much on a level with excessive stuff shown in the US TV series Banshee. Add to this some dull lesbian sex, probably put in simply for effect and that's about the sum of it.

John Wick fans might like this movie, but anyone expecting a female Bond or Bourne will be somewhat disappointed and as a spy film, it's not a patch on the moody Quiller Memorandum of 50+ years ago set in the same Cold War location. Not really for me I'm afraid.

4.5/10

This

Stars Steve Carell in a movie heavy with pathos , some nice chuckles and rich performances. Although oddly Carell felt out of place to me. Or ill at ease mostly. Maybe that`s how he was meant to be ?.

Anyway here he`s a (Navy) Vietnam veteran that`s tracked down his former Marine buddies Bryan Cranston, and Laurence Fishburne after decades. Because he needs their help and company for a deeply sad task.

As road movies go this isn't too shabby at all thanks in the main to Cranstons and Fishburnes great on screen chemistry
