hope for the best but prepare for the worst... in my experience, these ownership takeovers rarely end up with the lasting service. we`ll see.

meanwhile, I have been a busy little bee and replaced 70-80% of my pics.

lost a tone of time, but on the bright note, I was also checking my links (reuploading dead ones) and for the first time, creating back up for the images on hdd. I may as well do that for the remaining 20-ish % of my posts.

I'm glad ImageBam isn't shutting down. But now I can't upload images to the multi upload part of the site, and when I click on "create a new gallery" nothing happens. I wonder if this is temporary while they fix things? Is anyone else having this problem? I tried on both chrome and firefox, no luck. So I am using ImageBox to upload galleries at the moment, works fine

ahh the perks of taking time off this wonderful site, I feel so out-of-the loop! Good to see that imagebam/imagebox is not shutting down. When I first logged in after all this time I panicked a bit after reading a PM asking if my scans were backed up! Big thumbs up to all of you who re-upped your photos, at least you can breathe easy for the moment.

Just wanted to write in saying that I'm having the same problem as Billy707. Imagebam is telling me to download adobe flash in order to use the multi-upload. I uninstalled, and then re-installed adobe flash, and the message is still showing up. I'm trying the basic upload at the moment, but it's been loading my new gallery for quite a few minutes.

I just tried the bulk uploader,It worked but missed out several images.The gallery did work though.

Now the multi image upload part of ImageBam is working for me, but the images can not be interlinked, I can't name the gallery, only click on "create new gallery" (but it seemed to automatically name the gallery I noticed) and even though I am logged in, I don't see the gallery I just uploaded in the "my galleries" section. So for now I'll continue to use ImgBox, seems to work better, images can be interlinked, and you can name the gallery. Frustrating as ImageBam used to work so well for me. oh well

I have never used the Multi-Upload interface because it requires Flash which I refuse to install. But it certainly looks and behaves rather odd, as if I were not logged in in the first place.



By contrast, the Zip-Upload and "Basic Upload" interfaces actually display my selected defaults (and the AdBlock Plus warning ).

Really we should expect that from day 1

If only members read the TOS of any host they probably wouldnt be so complacent

We all got burnt by filehosts that allowed free user accounts to grow & grow

Imagehosts have allowed us to create monster sized free accounts because of the cheap nature of bandwidth but that appears to be ending

Unlimited has its limits - be aware of them

Rather than getting blinded by - pics kept for ever with unlimited bandwidth

Just checked out imagebam and the result is disillusioning: I have 52 galleries there and about 60% are empty or uncomplete . I hope this is a passing bug but one never knows...

Regarding apparently empty galleries: maybe it's "only" the tumbnails failing to load. Hopefully they will come back, but I don't hold my breath.

As for incomplete galleries: in my (bitter) experience, the percentage of Imagebam galleries where all the thumbnails are there but some full pictures are missing increases with age and approaches 100%.

I've not exactly done a scientific check on this, but the problem with thumbnails not loading seems particularly prevalent with material uploaded in the last 6 months or so.

I've just had a quick look back through a thread I regularly post in, and pics I've posted there in 'bam up to about mid-December seem to be working pretty much OK, but after that either (a) the thumbnail isn't there, although the pic still opens up, or (b) thumbnail is present and correct but the pic won't open, and the problem seems to transition from the first to the second for material posted some time around March/April, if that makes any sense.
