I am glad for the info. Experience is the best teacher andthanks for teaching us. I have been around for awhile biuut have lousy bandwidth. I am hooking up a new provider soon and hope to be able to contribute. All of my stuff is 1980s to around 1990.

Using Rapidshare, I downloaded an AVI file which is rar.
using RarZilla, I unrar'd the clip, but there's only an audio clip.
Please help.

You might need to download a codec usually codec VP6F you can get it for free if you google it.

Personally, I usually use Media Player Classic, Home Cinema Version with ffdshow (mentioned in the 8th and 10th posts), but the VLC player (first post) is a good alternative. GSpot (4th post) is a good diagnostic tool.

Multiple Rar File Question: OK, you download multiple RAR parts but then it's saved on my PC without the "001" suffix. HJSPLIT needs that "001" suffix to join them.

If you rename the rar files on the PC, you get the warning that renaming the folder might change the type....and that's apparently what happened as the RAR icon changed and then, while HJSPLIT worked, I couldn't unzip it using RARZILLA or the 7-Z program.

If you download a film in say 6x100mb and 1x50mb, it should unrar as a 650mb film.

If it doesn't can you show an example?

This is all a lot of goddamned work and puzzle solving, when all you need to do is upload in a server-friendly venue...like WMV.
