Seriously, the dead giveaway for deep sixing a dating possibility is when she asks which of the Sex in the City characters she reminds you of (hint: you're supposed to say "Charlotte"-- that would be the right answer . . . if you say "Samantha, cuz you're kinda easy, aintcha?" . . . not so good) |

Any series that features Amanda Burton who plays exactly the same role, in the same smarmy manner, whilst using the exact same facial expression, in every single performance.

Anything that the network I work for (the CW. "Cwality with a CW' is our motto) airs.

'Whitechapel'.
The premiss is that a modern day murderer is committing a series of 'Jack the Ripper' style murders that replicate the historical crimes. A posh upper-class policeman and a working-class "tough" copper get called in to investigate. Add a character known as a 'ripperologist' (I kid you not!) to this mix. Almost every scene last about 4 minutes because the producers are aiming for those who suffer with attention deficit disorder with a soap-styled script that is utter tripe. Absolutely appalling crap! |

I've never really enjoyed those hih-profile American network shows that everybody raves about.
Going back to LA Law in the 80s, and continuing with NYPD Blue, ER, Desperate Housewives, etc, etc. They're just so soapy.

Not being a doe-eyed, teenaged girl obsessed with the "romantic" nature of vampires (WTF?!), anything and everything on the CW network never, ever appears on my radar. It's one of only six local (non-cable) channels and yet I have no idea where it is on my dial.
It definitely didn't used to the case but I'd now include anything which J. J. Abrams has rubber-stamped. I think he'll now put his name on any show whose creators have gotten him high and bought him a sandwich (and also probably written him a check for $250,000). From "Undercovers" to "Alcatraz" and now to the current laugh fest that is "Revolution," seeing his name on a TV show is rapidly becoming a clear indicator of a dud to be skipped at all costs. That's really a shame, since he started off making some quality shows, at least in their first few seasons. (The final resolution of "Lost," anyone? Aaargh.) "Revolution" has a minimum of one LOL-worthy moment in every single episode. "The Event" was another similarly epically bad failure that was worthy of having the JJA "seal of approval" on it, even though it wasn't one of his. It's sad when potentially interesting story ideas get mangled so badly in the hands of Hollywood hacks. I know J. J. isn't directly responsible for all these failures, but if you're going to put your name on something, you should feel obligated to make sure it maintains some standards of quality and watchability. If you can't be bothered to stick with something while others ruin it, at least have your name scrubbed from the credits. "Terra Nova": Wow, the mind boggles at how unwatchable that was. An okay pilot episode and a surprisingly decent finale, but filled in between with nothing but some of the worst big-budget TV ever made. Fox's current (for now) show, "The Mob Doctor," is another one whose premise is so ludicrous and whose execution is so bad that I'm amazed it's still on the air. That's sure to be rectified by the end of the year, though. I could go on and on, and very well might in subsequent posts. Perhaps my greatest hatred is reserved for the show that at one time was the most popular one on the planet (again, WTF?!), the insipidly bad "CSI: Miami." Never has anyone overacted more through intentionally underacting than the hateful David Caruso. How often can those CSIs be directly or indirectly linked to or involved in the most heinous of crimes? How often in real life are the tech geeks the first to burst through the door with their guns drawn while the uniformed cops stay in the background? Most crime geek shows tend to fall into that same silly trap, but "CSI: Miami" took it to to heights that will (hopefully) never be rivaled again. I cheered when it was cancelled, only to weep later when I remembered how long it took for that to happen. Sorry if I've rambled a bit. My emotions got the better of me, an indicator of the depth of my hatred for some of these past and current disasters. We all deserve so much better. OP, thanks for starting this thread. |

Anything with Alan(can't interview for toffee) Titchmarsh or Smallpond as I call him-just irritating, and Question Time but only with Baroness Saida Varsi-she bangs on about her upbringing everytime she is on that show and I won't listen with the sound off until she's finished, and finally anything on ITV-nothing like Thames used to be.

I tried watching a few episodes of the new Dallas tv show. If anything it is even worse than the original series.

Modern shows only:
The Office ( american version) cant stand any of the characters, hate the theme, forced myself to watch two episodes. I don't get the hype at all. Mike and Molly- too staged, plastic and stiff, cliche'd, tries to make morbid obesity OK. Sex & The City: trite, stupid, poorly acted, and in no way representative of NYC. Any of the CSI, NCIS, Law & Order crap, especially CSI Miami. Two Broke Girls: not funny at all Anything from or with Tyler Perry- stupid, banal, utter tripe. Enlightened: self righteous pontificating Guys With Kids- boring Whitney: 1st season OK, 2nd season fell off the cliff Happy Endings, unfunny and boring The Middle,The Neighbors, Suburgatory- all needless fluff Cougartown: phony, stiff and boring |
