When a pc starts playing up I usually dump the hard drive and instal a new os and the old hard drive gets to be a spare in a cadddy/dock, more than twenty .3 terabytes so far, nothing in hd, and nothing over 1 gig size. I think it might be an age thing; for us who grew to adulthood with no internet there is a fear that one day it all might disappear. And that would make us neurotic oldies kings of the porn world with our stashes.

On a related subject, has anyone noticed that HD capacity seems to have stayed the same on your basic big-box store PCs for the last several years?

Most basic PCs have 1TB hard drives, same as 2014, and it's now 2018, almost 2019. That's a little skinny. I would think PCs would be coming stock with at least 2TB drives by now, or 4TB for a slight jump-up in price.

I am pretty sure this is because they are trying to manipulate users into relying more on storage in the cloud.

Thank God for cheap external drives.

I don't think it's an age thing with us file-hoarders, because there is plenty of stuff you can't find on the internet that you could several years ago. Things DO disappear. If there is something you really love, you'd better have a copy offline, because there is no guarantee even with today's super-internet you will be able to find everything you want online.

Keep in mind that you technically don't own material that you put up on the cloud, at least that what's Google/Amazon/Microsofts lawyers will argue and most likely ein to the end of time.

As for accumulating all the porn ever, what about stuff like Penthouse Forum (I mean the small digest sized magazine) and stuff like Penthouse Letters as well as books like The Joy of sex, Kama Sutra, that tsunami of Japanese tentacle porn.

Which brings up that you seem to be limiting this t porn made in the US, 'cause if you bring in EVERYTHING in the world, it was WAY more than 20,000 releases a year, that number was just for stuff in the US.

And what about erotic literature? Lady Chatterly's Lover etc. Are you including gay porn? I can't even begin to imagine how much erotic fan fiction is out there on the web.

Before the year 2000, I was hired to compile a list of both male and female performers who had done any kind of adult film. The criteria was that it was made in and for the US, from the first adult porn to the year 2000. At first it was easy to dig up some information and that which was not online was found in archives. What surprised me the most was the amount of women who were adult performers for that 35 year period of time. The list comprised of over 3,500 women and less that 300 men or those that one could find. Just storing the thumbnail view (a web shot of 240 x 240) was in excess of 100 gigs with the pdfs and text credits. Today the number unimaginable what with home brew and semi-pro performers.

Guys have to get and stay hard, all while being watched by a director/ soundman/cameraman and whoever else is on set, including the chick he;s supposed to screw, most of whom are bored and just want to go have lunch already. Hell to even get started in the business out in California you had to be able to get hard in front of Jim South. It's a lot of pressure.
