IMPORTANT Amendment to dates used in Celebs sections

Glad it made sense, I started writing it early in the morning before breakfast so probably a bit of luck involved...

Seriously though, the way you were thinking about the date range is probably how most people initially think about it, I know that's how I first pictured it.

Wasn't until I became a mod & had to give a bit more thought to the different Celeb sections that I began to see how it actually works with the birth date usage.

One of those things we kinda take for granted but ends up working a bit differently when looked at closely.

Why was 1984 considered the arbitrary "Classic" age? And I'm NOT going to slog through that essay you wrote. If you could summarize it in a paragraph AT MOST, so I can understand in laymans terms why the changes happen, it would be easier to understand. I still don't get it. The way I figure, all you really needed to do was shift people born 1984 or before into the classic category. It seems like you overcomplicated the system to a point where it becomes confusing as can be. Honestly, when I see "classic" I'm thinking 1960's-1970's born. When I see celebs who are barely in their 30s as being "classic" suddenly I feel like you're changing the definition around because you or others want others to feel as old as you all running this site. I don't know. Its honestly irritating at times, because the people that used to be in the modern celeb category made sense before the system change. Honestly, classic celebs should be celebs that are no longer acting on a regular basis but still do gigs or even brief comebacks, and vintage should just be outright retired celebs.

Since the cut off date is 1984, anyone in Classic is now at least 38 years old. The 1945 start date does mean there are those that reached their peak in the late '60's to those that did in the '00's. However, changing this might require a four part division rather than the three part division of Vintage, Classic and Modern now obtaining. Which would be a headache for our dear mods.

It wasn't, celebs born after 1984 are sorted into Modern Celebs. You'd know that if you read... oh yeah you don't read.

It's the exact same system that Celebs originally used, just shifted 9 years to account for the fact time moves forever forward.

Literally one line explains it above each of the sections:

Classic Celebrities Post your classic celebrities in this area! Celebrities and actresses born between 1945 and 1984.

Vintage Elegance & Beauty Female beauty from bygone days ~ Pre 1945 elegance.

Modern Celebrities Celebrities and actresses who were born after 1984.

As The_Archivist correctly points out, the youngest people in Classic will be 38, so no one barely in their 30's at all.

If you're wanting older celebrities, you need to go to Vintage Elegance & Beauty.

So you're complaining the current system is too complicated but suggest instead we replace it with one based on the retirement status of the celebrities? Classic is semi retired, Vintage is retired? So what is Modern, everyone else that is not semi or fully retired? What about those that take early retirement or die young?

Doesn't seem like you've actually given it much thought, more like you just want to whinge regardless of what system is in place.

Not much we can do about that, either enjoy this place or not. If it makes you so miserable to be here, perhaps find somewhere that makes you happy as life is too fleeting to spend it being unhappy.

I'm glad the reference year isn't the year the "celebrity" lost her virginity rather than the year she was born.
But with our so special VEF rules about 18+ this could decrease the number of posts and give time to our moderators to spend Christmas with family rather than on this perverted forum

Just my thoughts but I would suggest adding new date range based sections rather than having to keep moving threads and material from section to section every X number of years. Probably rename the sections if we go that way but it may reduce the workload in the long run.
