This would also explain M's insistence that Eve "take the bloody shot", knowing Bond had protection. The long fall off the bridge is another thing entirely. Mighty far fetched for me, but others have pointed out the villain in DAD goes over a waterfall trapped in a hovercraft and still survives. My feeling is that this is NOT a Pierce Brosnan Bond and therefore "more serious" rules apply.

3) I, as well, assume Silva is freed by the computer virus. How he kills the guards outside his cell is another poser, however.
Never thought of that, must not have been concentrating that much-cheers for those explanations.

Surely QofLJOtBGW stands for what the original poster called the film ... "Quantum of Let's Jump On the Be Green Wagon" ... which I assume refers to the fact that Bond was no longer battling the "old school" baddies but one who was stealing water from the poor peasants (if I remember the plot correctly ... which is unlikely as I thought the film was crap!)

Here's another that bothered me.

Patrice goes to all this trouble to kill the guy buying the stolen Modigliani. Killing the security guard, cutting the hole in the glass to stick the barrel of the sniper rifle through etc., yet when he shoots the guy...nobody in the other room bats an eyelash. Obviously the buyer has been set up by the people who are in the room with him. Why not just stick a gun to his head and shoot him?

Other than the lights playing against the darkness and the shadows and the resulting fight looks way cool.

Like Greenman, I have a theory, but am interested in what everybody thinks.

Speaking of stunts I thought the opening sequence was jam packed with them, the chase on the roof on motorcycles very perilous for the stuntmen and the one with Daniel and the crane was great, especially as he jumps into the rapidly peeling train roof, he stops to straighten his cufflinks and jacket-lovely Bond touch.

I have to admit I loved that bit too. What's funny about it is his tie settled perfectly in place without him touching it!

I also loved the expression on Craig's face when checked his wound. A perfect "The *bleep*er shot me! I'm going to have to have a talk with that man." look.

I did like the bit with the gear stick that had the red button for the ejector seat - Bond opens it and threatens to eject 'M'- a nice nod to the original Goldfinger DB3.

A lot of the plot holes and posers etc. mentioned on this thread are well-founded BUT I happen to still think this is one of the best Bonds ever (along with Casino Royale) for the following reasons.

Daniel Craig does physical action with aplomb – utterly convincing - not lame and sluggish (Moore) or light in the loafers (Brosnan).
Stunts well choreographed and will filmed. Most action today happens so fast your eyes can’t follow and the brain overloads causing the audience to be stupefied like a cat with a ball of string.
The pace of it – the story moved between action scenes/ stunts and did not drag at all.
The first time an actor playing a Bond villain did not just 'phone it in'. Bardem always brings something special to a role.
Great supporting cast - Q, M(allory), Moneypenny
Sharp dialogue/ banter without the cliched stupid quips.
Back to basics (gun and radio) and no exploding pens. The gadgets started to become so elaborate to be ridiculous. The stripped down Bond is more reliant on his wits and prowess (even if not declared fully fit!).
No huge sets with armies of baddies in red fighting the armies of good guys in blue. Booring.

Personally, I like the current formula and if they can keep the scripts tight they’re onto a winner. I’d rather forget all about Quantum.

Seeing as we've started again I would like to actually see the return of the gadgets, for me it is not the same without something so from Goldfinger onwards we started to get them and then they disappeared in Casino Royale. Give more action to the new Q as well. We won't have Craig for long so it is best to 'gadget him up' again but this time with slightly more believable weaponry than exploding pens and key-rings.

Why they didn't have the gun barrel sequence in the front again this time?
