I find it fascinating that he has titles before he has a name. And given how long Elizabeth's been going and can still go, there's a good chance I'll never see the little prince take the throne.

I'm delighted that he's finally been born and we can now start the book on the name. So what do we reckon? Leading candidates at the bookies are

Dwayne
Eric
Elton
Tyrone (so we can have a 'Windsor Ty'.....

Fair enough, it's an event. But it sure as hell didn't need the wall to wall coverage and some BBC clown asking cretinous questions at the licence payers' expense. Not just for a few minutes or even a few hours, but all bloody day.

Despite my being mentally tired by the TV coverage, I'd agree with this.

In theory the monarchy is anachronistic and inegaliterian.
In practice it works brilliantly and gives us something that mere officials couldn't provide.
Some of my American friends oppose it because they like to vote for their Head of State. But how much say do they actually get? It's all stitched up long before the ballot box and out of 300 million Americans they get a choice of two.
Then, having chosen a President he is a politician who will be viewed with suspicion by about half the electorate.
So I'm a strong monarchist and where we live there'll be a few drinks mornings and BBQs to celebrate the news.

Of course, she would have to be the one who was drunk because I doubt she would even look at me if she was sober.
