Bikes you've had, got & wish for............. - Page 3

I've had about 160 bikes over the past 25 years. The two I wish I still had were my first road bike, a pedal start Fizzy 50, and an original 1969 drum braked H1 triple, which was without question the most mental bike I've ever been on.

Currently own a 1200 Bandit, WR360 Husqvarna, Vespa PX125, GPz750, PE175 and an RXS100 Yammy, which I've had for 20 years.

I quite like the look of the Ducati Streetfighter, but I doubt I'd ever part with that kind of money for a bike.

Hi motards. I always loved off-road bikes (Pics are not mine)

In my 18 I had my first bike in trial

Montesa Cota 74T

When i learned a bit i went into enduro

Montesa Enduro 250 H6

Some years later I renewed

Montesa Enduro 250 H6 79 Cappra
I already have this one, but not in good condition.

Meanwhile, for work, had this

Vespa 125 Primavera

And now, my son have this one (I stole it from time to time

)

'Was there yesterday and snapped a few pics...personally I prefer "old school" chops, tho the styling and paint on the "Hellboy" bike looked amazing...Suffice to say, I would be happy to have any of these sitting in my garage!

I used to have a 1976 BMW R75 /6 and absolutely loved it. The thing always ran and never gave me a single mechanical problem. I took a trip on it from the upper Midwest to Houston, New Mexico, Utah, Montana and everyplace in between. Not a single problem or complaint from the bike. Just purred along the entire time. Even at 120+ mph through Texas, Nebraska or Montana.

So many good experiences with that bike but one I especially remember is being on a road in Colorado getting ready to climb the Rockies into Estes and Rocky Mountain National Parks (headed East). I met some other riders and we joined up. Two guys had old Harleys, another a 1959 BMW and a Honda. The Harley and Honda riders all had to get off their bikes once or twice on the way up to adjust their carbs. The Beemers both seemed to run even better at altitude. Never had to touch the carbs.

Came back from that trip high as a kite and figuring I'd always be a bike rider but, within a month, had three friends killed on bikes and I was hit by an old woman that "didn't see me". Thank heavens for the BMW's horizontally opposed twin cylinders or I'd be missing a right foot. Fixed the bike up, sold it and haven't ridden since.

I really hate that.

i first started out on a 1988 RZ350 yamaha. by far the most fun i've ever had on a bike. then i had a 1985 RZ500 yamaha, 1995 kawasaki ZX-7 ninja, 2001 ducati 748. i currently ride a 2009 ducati 848. the bike i regret never riding is a suzuki rg500 gamma. big fun! cheers.

That's always been the main problem with biking - in the UK it's left foot/leg injuries (I've seen some *real* horrorshow messes over the years. We call them 'smidsy' crashes: stands for "Sorry Mate - I Didn't See You" 3 common factors:

1. Tin box pulls out onto main road without looking (hence left-side injury)
2. Usually a Volvo or an SUV.
3. Often a woman driving. (Sorry, but it's true!)

My bikes? VéloSoleX, Raleigh Moped, Honda 50, 90, 90 Sport, B.S.A. Dandy(do what? - Google it), Honda 400/4 F1 (Mmmmmmm...), Yamaha SR500, Honda 400A (Ewwww...), and now - after 21 years in tin boxes - a Yamaha 400 Majestic scooter!

Oh, and I worked with an A&E doctor who didn't call them 'bikers' - preferred 'donors'!
