Default Going Down..!

There's a very simple way to prevent 'simulation' -ffs, call it 'cheating' and be done with it - second only to those who grab their face as if they've been raked by the sharpened talons of an enraged Gyrfalcon (the Ukraine gave some wonderful recent examples), when slight contact has been made.
George 'envelope' Graham had the best cure for diving. Apparently he hated it and operated a zero tolerence at Leeds when he was in charge. Much to the dismay of the recently signed JFHasselbaink, who when he came to Leeds suffered from the 'assassin in the stand' syndrome. He was soon cured by GG's training regime - he instructed the other players to kick the diving Dutchman at every opportunity in training until he learned to stay on his feet and stop moaning and diving. It worked. Well, the diving bit anyway. It's down to the clubs themselves to man up, stop being such sanctimonious hypocrites and to eradicate the antics of Ashley Young, Suarez and countless others.

I watched Leeds Rhinos beat Warrigton in a cracking RL final at the weekend and the contrast with out footballers diva behaviour was all too apparent. Now hold your breath, because apparently, one of the Warrington players ruptured a testicle during the game and played on, and then had it surgically removed afterwards!!!

the fa is gutless
it should act witout bias, diving should be a two match ban, stamping 3 match ban, elbow to the face 3 match ban. 8 match for race ,6 month for drugs ,3 years for match fixing.
managers regardless of who they are should be banned if they talk about refs before games.
refs should be punished for bad performance and if they dont improve dropped by premiership.(too many strange decisions) ref should have to talk to press after game .

the fa should be independent fron any league in england ,no team should have a member on the board. 12 month contract . then a new board is selected, not by team but from a independent judge.

I think it says a lot about a player who simulates it. I think most of us would be downright embarrassed looking at ourselves broadcast to millions (even billions) of people around the world. While I respect the ability of both Suarez and Bale I find the simulation a disgrace. Have they no shame when they see it on tv?

On the diving/simulation issue. It would appear that we all agree that it's disgraceful. However one of the biggest problems with this is that club managers tolerate it when their players are doing it & get away with it. They only condemn it when happens to their team.

This will only stop when all managers denounce it. And as we all know that'll never happen.

Fabio Borini has broken a bone in his foot while training with Italy's U21 squad. story here

This leaves Liverpool with only Suarez as a recognised striker, and only an assortment of teenagers as injury cover. Brings the sense of loaning out Andy Carroll to West Ham into sharp focus again!

Liverpool wont miss him given his tally of 0 goals in the EPL
1 goal in 11 appearances

10 million pounds well spent to go with last seasons excellent buys

The lack of fluency all throughout the Liverpool side is alarming and speaks of a team that will be lucky to sneak into the top 6.

As for the ideas that Liverpool become Swansea and play out from the GK
Reina almost gifting Stoke 2 Goals should kill that stone dead.

An interesting little speach. Wishful thinking, or could this happen?

I think a European league is inevitable, and frankly a damn good thing so long as there's a proper mechanism for relegation and promotion.

The practicalities though are immense. Each UEFA country's FA would need to withdraw from their respective TV licence arrangement and work out how big a piece of the Euro-pie they get in return. Those negotiations would be long, drawn out and hostile.

It'll happen, but not quickly. And if Rangers think they'll be included, good luck to them. They certainly wouldn't be there at the moment if I had my way. Entrance to such a European league must be determined by performance on the pitch. Anything else will be a sham reminiscent of US sports.

I just have severe concerns for the grass roots of the game. The have's will have and the have not's will be consigned to obscurity. If there ends up a European League I wouldn't be surprised if there would eventually be calls for a European National team.

Three thoughts:

don't think a european league will happen or work. And Rangers would never have been and will never be in it if it did. Based on which european successes would they be in. Celtic certainly wouldn't get in and they've won a european cup. You can't simply take out the top couple of teams in each league (rangers aren't exactly running away with the scottish third division are they, I haven't seen any Rangers 10 - opposition nil scorelines yet, which given this statement implying that they are better than anyone else in scotland and most of europe you would expect). Would liverpool get in? On current form no, historically yes they'd be one of the first but if they were allowed in on history alone wouldn't they be liable to becoming the whipping boys? A european league with a club who has won so many trophies across the board would be a joke. is it going to be a closed shop, will there be relegation - to where ? once the likes of ac milan, barcelona etc have walked out on their leagues taking their respective tv rights with them why should the italian fa etc accept them back when they have a bad season?

For once i'm expecting england to hit double figures tonight (no not in corners, throw in's or bookings).

I'm also expecting it to be only a matter of days before someone involved in the policing of hillsbrough commits suicide.
