Deadpool 2 (2018)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5463162/

Try to avoid spoilers

Absolutely freaking fantastic, the opening scene features a dying Wolverine model followed by a flashback to a series of quick fire foreign missions before Deadpool faces real tragedy back home and just when it seems he cannot sink any lower gun-toting mutant Cable arrives from the future to track down and kill a 14 year old boy.

It is chock full of action, X-Men (albeit some only briefly) and more brilliantly delivered quick fire one-liners, some of which I missed as others in the audience were still laughing at the last one so I need to get the Blu Ray when it comes out. The scenes when X-Force jump into action are just priceless, especially involving The Vanisher and Peter, then there is the Juggernaut and Black Tom Cassidy without his shillelagh.
Throw in some mild DC comics baiting and bucket loads of in-jokes and it's a real winner.

There's no end credit sequence but early on as the credits roll there's a few quick scenes which make sense once you've seen the film, including a couple of Deadpool righting some of Ryan Reynolds' past wrongs. The change of theme tune at the very end of the film had many younger movie-goers in stitches.

Default "April Fools, Mr Laurence"

"Death of Stalin"
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4686844/

an important moment in Russian and world history, more and less accurately rendered, depicted by a cast of talented British and American (mostly comic) actors.

A great subject-- but why is this supposed to be played for laughs? It makes no sense at all.

I had the same kind of queasy feeling I got with "Inglorious Basterds", that weird "Hogan's Heroes Syndrome" where genuinely monstrous brutality is played for laughs. Blackadder works better when you can't remember any of the victims as human beings; this is a century or two too soon.

How are Beria's torture chambers seen as comic?

As important a subject as this is, how is _this_ the movie that got made?

I watched 12 Strong (2018) movie regarding a 12 man Special Forces unit that led a Northern Alliance force in clearing a key part of Afghanistan in less than a month. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12_Strong A movie that had some parts that I found hard to believe - cavalry charge into modern weapons - but apparently true. Of the 12 men, a black man and a Hispanic are prominently portrayed. However when the end of the film came, they showed a picture of the real 12 men and they all appeared to be white guys.

I wonder why Hollywood didn't throw an Asian and a few women into the mix if they wish to ignore reality and be "politically correct".

Fuck Politically Correct Hollywood.

Otherwise, not a bad movie, give it 3 out of 5.

Deadpool 2

Ryan Reynolds returns to the role he was born to play, the merc with the mouth Deadpool in Deadpool 2.
This time around his goal is to protect a young mutant Julian Dennison as Russell Collins / Firefist from the time jumping Cable(Josh Brolin) who has set his deadly sights on him.

This movie is a mixture of Terminator 2 and all of the great things about Deadpool from the comics and anything else the writers who definitely did their homework on the character came up with.
Reynolds is game and fun as usual,I thought Brolin was ok as Cable,he's at his best whenever he is sharing the screen with Deadpool as their personalities and goals clashed.
Dennison was just so so,i felt something for Firefists plight but after awhile he was just an obnoxious yelling kid IMO.

Zazie Beetz as Domino fares far better,i loved her in the role, all the right amounts of toughness, charm and humor.
Some characters got the short end of the stick, but i was pleasantly surprised by a complete U Turn of what i thought was going to happen with certain characters.
Thee are some extremely laugh out loud moments,i thought the blink and you will miss them cameos were great.
Some of the action sequences looked kind of choppy. The film tries to go for the heart a couple of times and it worked in some sequences but some of those go for drama turns brought the movie to a crawl.
I loved the mid credits scenes, and as a comic book fan a lot of the references and nods worked for me.
Not as good as the first Deadpool but highly watchable and satisfying

Scale of 1-10 an 8

House Shark (2017)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8387464/

After his naked babysitter is torn to pieces whilst sat on the toilet Frank thinks he sees a fin rise from the toilet, his son is too afraid to move back into the house and sleeps outside in a tent.
Meanwhile the evil estate agents send in a potential couple to view the house although the viewing is rudely interrupted.
They call on House Shark expert Zachary and Abraham a local legend former estate agent Abraham to get rid of the beast.
It is totally played for laughs with knowing winks to Jaws and Star Wars, some of the jokes have worn very thin over the years with so many Jaws spoofs but it has the odd funny moment

Ich war neunzehn (1968)

Opening sequence

On April 16th, 1945, Lt. Gregor Hecker (Jaecki Schwarz) and his unit are advancing through Brandenburg toward Berlin. They're part of the Soviet 48th Army, coming from the Oder river. 19-years-old Hecker was born to German parents who emigrated to Moscow when he was eight. As Gregor and his comrades advance, facing both civilians and German soldiers, of whom some refuse to surrender, he has to cope with his feelings of ambiguity concerning his birth origins and his sympathies which lie with his adopted homeland.

I Was Nineteen is based on director Konrad Wolf's own experiences. Like Gregor Hecker, he was born in Germany and relocated to Moscow at age 8 with his parents. Wolf enlisted in the Red Army when he was eighteen. This is one of the best postwar German films, produced by the East German DEFA.

The Jurassic Games (2018)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6710826/

Billed as a mixture of Jurassic Park and The Hunger Games, 10 convicted killers are given the chance of competing for the chance for one of them to gain their freedom, the sort of programme a Big Brother or Jeremy Kyle fan might enjoy
They have to compete against each other in a virtual reality world with dinosaurs on the prowl, adding spice to the show is the fact that one of the contestants says he is innocent and has taken this chance to gain his freedom.

It's a decent enough effort with a host slimier than Kyle at his bottom feeding worst
