Decent review for "In Bruge" (2008) and it being free on youtube made me watch it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-W2dknMgs4&t=2490s Good actors, not mentioned in the earlier review - Ciarán Hinds took a small role that I would not have expected from him. Gleeson, Farrell and Fiennes were excellent in it. Well worth watching for free. |

The Mutilator / Fall Break (1985)
Watched it in clear HD for the 1st time, this is probably my 3rd viewing, 1st viewing was near unintelligible, 2nd time was decent quality. Cast is very bland, the semi joker character is decently likable, the puritan lead female is notably not. Good skinny dipping scene, great kills, good setting on the beach house, although the shots when they drive up & park make it seem not nearly as isolated as they want us to feel it is as there are a bunch of other condos around. Music is adequate. Acting is also, I think the lead male is the weakest but he does get at least 1 or 2 good moments (his voice when he realizes who the killer is) Killer is kinda interesting, he has no mask or outfit, he comes off as the slasher personification of the drunken asshole dad you try & avoid, he gets some solid badass moments. One when the lead male knocks him down with a pole hit to the head, he gets right back up and punches the fucking shit out of him into the wall. His battle axe is a damn solid primary weapon. They take his resilience to injury to preposterous but effectively disturbing extremes during the damn good finale. Film has a bit of a tonal disparity as there is 1 moment (after the killing has already started) with footage of a character sped up for comedic purpose in a rush to do something after his girlfriend promises him sex upon his return which is fun but feels like it should be in a parody, but then it has 1 of the most mean spirited slasher kills you will ever see. Overall it's a decently solid slasher, not great, but much worse out there. Last edited by movieman88; February 6th, 2018 at 08:30 PM.. |

This is the third movie from Netflix I watched this week. The 2017 version of "The Mummy" starring Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe, others. One of the single worst movies I have ever seen in my life. Totally incomprehensible. Lousy special visual effects. Riduculous plot. Both Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe must have been desperate for work to even consider making this film. Though it made a lot of money at the box office world wide it was considered a box office bomb, and because of high production and marketing costs actually lost 95 million dollars. What a damn mess! |

"They Nest" aka "Creepy Crawlers" [2000]
average, but kinda fun. Doctor with a troubled past heads to an "island in Maine" to dry out and pull his wits together. What's hilarious here is that they shot the entire movie outside of Vancouver (looks like Squamish and Bowen Island) and they're pretending its Maine, "no lobstah heah boyz" . . . and there's a ridiculous moment when they shoot an establishing shot of "the city", which is plainly Vancouver; didn't these people have a friend they could call "Hey I need 30 seconds of background plate of Portland, Maine?" The acting is decent, and there's a reasonably coherent drunken downeasters vs.yuppie scum backstory, and a hot almost love interest who regrettably doesn't get naked . . .all we get is her chastely in a tub . . . I think this was cut as a tv movie which meant that there's a deficit in boobage. But there are some flashes of real creativity-- the guinea pig in the school classroom is a nice detail, smarter than your average bug movie. So its a C+, but its not painfully stupid or grating. |

Anybody remember that story in the Twilight Zone Movie about a child who could wish something and it`d happen ?
Well this ,
Plays with that theme. Only the child here makes things happen when asleep through his dreams. Nearly put this in the thread for films you like that others loathe. As it bombed. Whereas I think it should have at the very least made back lucky seven times it`s original budget. Which was pretty low. Blast , will Thomas Jane ever get a proper blockbuster hit behind his excellent acting name Story concerns child losing and mourning former parents who are overjoyed when Cody enters their life to foster. Can't blame them either as he`s ridiculously adorable. Hell yes I`m saying that , and I usually can't stand child actors. The boy however is terrified to fall asleep for fear of a monster than haunts him and devours others. The couple try to assure that there`s nothing to worry about. As monsters aren't real. However soon they realise how wrong they were and desperately want him to wake up. True the CGI is kind of ropey in parts but that drop in quality is easily supplanted by a darn decent script , able direction and the terrifically earnest performances of all involved. Not least the little lad himself
