Due to the usual clap British Easter weather spent some of it watching War Films.

The Errol Flynn pic is for a box set I have but just watched the Edge of Darkness.

Finally, a great horror movie!

It's a low budget shot in almost an only set, which is the usual abandoned warehouse in the darkest area of NY, and the effects are awesome. Everything here consists of old school practicals. No crappy CGI or digital blood whatsoever.

The body count is alright and most of all, very bloody. All the actors are good, especially Jenna Kannel as the leading girl and David Thornton as Art himselft. And let me tell you, this clown's a sick perverted bastard! I have absolutely no fear of clowns but honestly, this one freaked me out.

Terrifier is a last of a B horror flick. Its exactly what to expect from that kind of movies. Pretty girls, a vicious unstoppable killer, lots of blood & guts, a dirty and eerie tone...I really hope the all-package could turn into a very cool franchise. Loved it from the first till the last second.

Orgasmic throwback to 80's slashers, a villain that feels like a cross between Captain Spaulding and the demonic jester from Funny Man and a cool as fcuk poster to boot 🤘

Downsizing. The only things this film really needs to make it watchable are forty five minutes cut out of the middle bit and a story that doesn't drag on interminably....oh and actual story.

I, Daniel Blake (2016) a 59 year old unemployed man with health problems befriends a widow and her two children. Poverty, loss of benefits, bureaucratic problems, etc. Depressing film. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I,_Daniel_Blake Jeez, if someone wants to watch this for entertainment, then they probably pull off the wings of flies and throw them into ant trails. No wonder the English suicide rate without guns is close to the American rate with guns.

Adding to the film are to hot actresses. Marthe Snorresdotter Rovik is very nice looking but Johanna Mørck is a real knockout as nurse Audhild. It's a while since I've seen an actress who looks as naturally pretty. The web hasn't come up with a picture that I think does her justice.
I was fortunate that my local cex had Cold Prey at a bargain 75p today.
Seconding this. If you haven't seen the 1st film do so.
The 1st 2 Cold Prey films are easily among the best slashers of the last 3ish decades.
Great lead female, great killer, gorgeous snowy setting.
3rd film is a prequel it's simply ok but still worth seeing.

I watched "The Sinking of the Laconia (2011) on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7esQ9S46EJY Originally shown on the BBC. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Si...of_the_Laconia Kinda surprised that the Brits co-made this film with the Germans in which the officer in charge of U-156 - Werner Hartenstein - was portrayed as a gentleman - much like the role of Captain Bernhard Rogge of Atlantis fame was portrayed in "Under Ten Flags" (1960).
British and American officers were kinda shown as assholes who did not respect or even acknowledge Hartenstein's attempts to get his prisoners to safety.

I doubt the side stories in the film were true but it was an overall entertaining film. 4 of 5 from me.

Annihilation. A really intelligent scifi that ponders some heavy questions and leaves you to draw your own conclusions. And the five leads are all outstanding. Fleshed out characters with their own backstories. If you enjoyed Arrival, you'll most probably like this.

Just back from the cinema after watching

Ghost Stories (2017)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5516328/

The idea sounded intriguing, a sceptic paranormal de-bunker Professor Phillip Goodman gets a parcel from another paranormal investigator Charles Cameron who apparently vanished several years ago. Cameron appears to be terminally ill and suggests Goodman may change his attitude if he looked at three unexplained cases Cameron had investigated and believes could be evidence that there is life beyond death.
Cue 3 tales one involving a nightwatchman, one where a car driven by a panicking young man hits something odd the final one involves a poltergeist haunting at the same time as the man's wife is in hospital undergoing a difficult birth. I kept thinking how were they supposed to line up together, there were a few recurring themes like repeated numbers but Goodman did not seem to be doing much real investigating.
There are a few mild jump scares, some great use of shadows and the final denouement ties everything up in a way I had not expected. Well worth watching

I like it too. Really different as what I've seen from aliens stories landing on Earth.
It's not a typical alien, it's a... surprise, surprise. (If you want to discover the story. )
The colors are extremely saturated, but that's artistically really beautiful, the context is magic and terrifying.
The introduction of the story is not really entertaining. I almost thought to stop it and slowly the mystery made it more interesting.
