What's the best filehost currently available?

as a free DLer, i have no problem w oron. yeah, it's slow but so is everything else. still way faster than depositfile, if i'm not mistaken.

i just DLed something from ******* for the first time in a while and was SHOCKED at the speed. absolutely SHOCKED. DLed 200M before DF got to 20!

i don't recall this being the case in the past, but for right now, i'm pleasantly surprised.

Shame that *** means its banned but great download speeds on a filehost not used on forums is not a good measure of future speeds up or down or even performance across the world for that matter

Every single filehost I've seen allowed on the larger forums has almost instantly slowed to a crawl

Take depositfiles - its widely used because of its reward scheme and as such its speeds are not even as good as rapidshares very slow 30kb.

About the only one that seems to be impervious to all of it is mediafire
but then its never been widely used in relation to porn due to it asking uploaders to split files into 200mb chunks & its uploads being on the slower side dont make it a target of many who upload large files.

I actually like Rapidshare.

Because I can go premium for a month here or there, just by using my telephone.

Having finished our credit cards when the credit crunch was under way, this option from RS is excellent for those of us unable / unwilling to pay by cc.

RapidShare would take beer bottle caps if they thought they were worth
anything lol. Actually though, do not pretty much all of them have numbers
where you can call in to order premium from?

I have stated earlier that it´s barely impossible to give a real recommendation.

Hosters being called "reliable" today may turn "lousy" tomorrow and/or just vanish like some we were facing the troubles with.

From my own experience as Moderator reviewing and cleaning up entire threads regularly, I must clearly state that posts hosted at Rapidshare seem to be the longest lasting ones.

Only few do expire, most of even earlier date (2006) are still alive.

Not the worst "recommendation", isn´t it?

I was told to use imagebam, but it`s starting to happen to them.
It`s not as bad but.......Are we having a problem with the forum i ask ?

Well, I`m not exactly going to recommend, but my download stats show that Rapidshare is by far the site which my vids have the most DL`s from. I use Embedupload and have signed up as a free user to all the hosts it gives me. Now some hosts are better than others as far as speed/waiting times are concerned depending on the ISP and part of the world you`re in, but when I check through to see how my files are being DL`d I see most files are DL`d from RS around 50 times more than all the other hosts put together with some at more than a 100 times. So, whilst I do see many complaints about the speed issues from RS for free users, the stats I see, say a different story and that people are using it to DL far more than any other site I host on.

Plus, due to the affiliates system, they`ve recently upgraded me to a 2 year rapid pro account and I`ve also got another 3000+ rapids in the kitty for when that expires, so thanks to anyone who`s signed up through anything I`ve upped there

Well that sounds pretty good for ya. Congrats on getting something from
RS other than misery lol. Honestly, unless someone's a spammer, that's what
we that share quite a bit of stuff want from a file host. A place to upload
to where our files will be safe from deletion, but not have to pay for the
privilege of uploading and getting that safety net of premium. As is often
stated as fact inappropriately, a file host giving perks of some kind (be it
cash, rapids, or other) isn't an automatic conviction of being a site trying
to take advantage of everyone. There's only one way for a file to last for
any amount of time beyond 30 days or so, and that's if it's been downloaded
or the person that uploaded it has retained a premium account. RS is the
the inventor of the use of various tactics to get people to purchase some
sort of premium account from them, and they continue to lead the field in
that category. The praise they may be getting at the moment, is the exact
opposite they would have got using their present tactics less than a year
ago. As George said previously, what's good today is likely to not be good
tomorrow and vice versa. Truer words have probably never been said when
it comes to file hosts! lol It's sorta like Pro Rasslin' ya know. That smile you
see is fake as can be, and today's good guy is gonna be next Wednesday's
S.O.B. lol Still yet.....congrats again to ya Stralis!

I'm a bit short on $$ - is there a free membership to any site where I can upload for sharing on this forum an avi. in 11 parts, (softcore nudity), about 2.3 MB total?? I tried Mediafire & flunked. Had to pull off my VEF post.

I'm assuming you mean 2.3 GB?

Mediafire is the only site I know of that has long term free storage although theie fileupload size is limited.
In what way did you 'flunk' uploading to MF? I've used it a bit although biggest files have been about 1 gig (in 200 mb chunks). Files still active after two years. One thing with MF is to NOT use a revealing file name. That can get a file deleted quickly.

Lately, I've been using toucansharing.com. Prior to my getting a premium account, I was able to get simultaneous downloads using jdownloader and only rare requests for a capcha code. As a registered user, files are kept 60 days and you have a 500 mb file size upload limit. Toucanshare is not the best but they are pretty good. One of the biggest advantages to my mind is that they're cheap, just $25 for one year premium.( 1 gig upload, files don't expire)



I got screwed over by RS a bit over a year ago. I'll never use them again. And I think this business of now limiting free users to a 30kb download speed really sucks....
