There's a significant proportion of that current squad who really don't care enough. MU will continue to lollop about on the edges until someone comes along with big enough cojones to boot out those players who are clearly coasting through their careers and fire up the imagination of the players who do give a damn. If it doesn't happen soon, the likes of Rashford might find a significant part of their early career spoiled beyond redemption. And the MUFC academy don't appear to be the supply chain it once was...whereas, across the Citeh... It don't need evolution it needs a red revolution. I'm currently enjoyed my team playing the best football I've seen at Elland Rd for years, served up by a collection of ragtags and bobtails who last season looked more likely to be at the lower end of the division. Thjat's entirely down to one man: Bielsa. He's fired up some very average players and formed them into a team. We're sitting on top of a division where beneath us there are at least a handful of squads with considerably better playing staff. If he gets us promoted, then it'll be not much short of a miracle - but what it does show is the value of having a coach who really is a leader, can communicate his vision, forge a real team and is determined to get rid of the hangers-on (20+players have left the club since he arrived). This is arguably, the best time of year for being a football supporter. I used to love the walk up to the ground, or travelling through daft weather across the pennines or up to Newcastle for Boxing Day games. Whatever you're doing, enjoy yourselves and hopefully the blighters you support might put a smile on your faces over the festive excesses! |

If Roy Keane was right, he'd be a good manager.
For players who are passionate, it's too easy to go somewhere else. The way you're talking about Marcelo Bielsa, he might be the next Utd manager! |

Ole is the type of manager who will listen to his players opinions and try to reason with them. This can be far more effective than the so-called 'hairdryer' treatment, or JM's sulky criticism of players. Anyway, i'm looking forward to tonight's match, good luck lads and good luck Ole! |

Mid table premiership crap. Neither side can defend or take chances, the pen apart, it would be goal less.

Townsend's goal? ******* Hell!!!!
Better than Shearer's against Everton, and Zidane's in the CL final. |

1963 losing 8-2 at home to the Bryan Douglas XI (Blackburn) we also hit the woodwork twice, but young Bryan had the ball glued to his feet, both very tearful Christmas times. Merry Christmas to you all and if your venturing out to a game, just enjoy. |

Meanwhile, back in the Championship:
Villa Park - a match between the two best supported clubs in the league sees 41,000 fill Villa Park to see the home side take advantage of Leeds' continuing injury woes (all the bench are academy graduates), as Douglas named but almost immediately withdrawn and a last minuted debut ensues for yet another Leeds youngster. Villa, along with WBA, have the strongest squad in the division and in John McGinn, their signing from Hibs, have comfortably the best player in the division. If you liked Townsends goal v Citeh watch this beauty: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2VSH3wLMsQ Villa take a 2-0 lead with Tammy Abraham scoring yet again. Leeds have a good penalty shout denied, but despite their lead, Villa's defence looks shaky...Leeds under Bielsa don't give up... Jack Clark, a great 19 yr old prospect from our academy pulls one back with his first for the club and Pontus Janson who always seems to score against Villa, obliges with an equalizer...Last minute, Kemar Roofe, living proof that good managers can get the best out of any player, clinches a 3 goal comeback and Leeds return to the top of the table... HAPPY CHRISTMAS! |
