Hi there. I hope you can help.
In late Sept, there was a Win 10 update, which took about an hour or so to install.
Since then, Win 10 has been running REALLY S-L-O-W-L-Y.
Prior to that update, it was lightning fast. Now, some pages wont even open, or take ages to. Example...sometimes, trying to play Candy Crush Saga on FB, the page will not open at all. I have to run CCleaner, then try again. Usually, this works.
Anyone here know what's wrong, and what I can do to resolve this? I am not technically minded in regards to PC's. The desktop I have is only a few months old. I'm tempted to go back to Win 7.
Thanks.
GFM.

Hello
Can you simply cancel this update?
I mean, theoretically you can restore your system to the state it was before your update.
You will stiil be under Windows 10 but just before your update.
Then you will receive a new update.
What is the number of your update?

Default Living (bad) with Windows 10

Among one of the (numerous) difficulties in using Windows 10 is keeping your parameters after an upgrade.

After each upgrade you find yourself controlling (and re-controlling) your parameters.

Of course it depends on your version.

If you have the basic version you can do very litttle except weeping after accepting the changes (or not accepting them, but Satya Nadella doesn't care a fig).

If you are lucky enough you have the Professional Version.
In that case, you can do something (I admit it is not much but nevertheless you have some options).

One problem is keeping the automatisms safe after an upgrade.
If you have an application which is granted the goahead by Satya Nadella (that is if you accepted to to go to the Windows Store and pay) there are less problems (only less).

That is why your parameters are reset to please Mr Satya Nadella, each time you have a new upgrade.
So it is up to you to re-tune your parameters.

Even Adobe is annoyed by these practices.

Just notice that on my W8.1 the update 2976978 showed up again - one from the crap list. I thought that was just associated with the prepare-for-W10 nonsense. Does anyone know why we are still getting it "offered"?

I rejected windows 10 while running windows 7, Then updates ran out for 7 . So I went out and spent 100 quid on 10.... The free version is plagued with problems. I would have no hesitations about recommending Windows 10.. Remember folks you don't get nothing for free....

So sad that Microsoft has made people not trust their updates.

Why did you feel the need to buy another OS just because Win7 wasn't getting any more updates?

I work with laptops all day, I repair them; but still run Win7 on both my home pc and laptop without hassle; while all the Win8/8.1/10 machines I have to fix daily are riddled with issues that make me lose more hair by the day....

If it ain't broke, why fix it? Win7 still works fantastic..!

Same for me.

Windows 7 is still the best Windows OS I know.

When I was under Windows 7 I had stopped to upgrade it since 2015 because of the Windows lies.
Even the upgrades which were not on the s... list I did not allow.

Then I was plagued by a virus and I reinstalled Windows 7.
It then worked like a charm.

Then I accepted to upgrade towards W10 (I had to).
I regret it.
Since then I have to check every parameter after each upgrade.
Every time there is an upgrade for windows 10 I have to redo all my parameters.
This is without telling all other small problems.

Windows 10 is still a very unfinished OS.
Alas all my furnishers begin to have Windows 10.
That is the result of the strong arm tactics from Microsoft.
I recon it will take another year for Microsoft to release a real OS.

First of all, not all of us work with computers, some of us have manual jobs.
Secondly, I took my computer back to the factory setting around a month ago, hence no more updates for 7..
Windows 10 free version deleted my cd/dvd drive..
If you know what you're doing, I dare say none of the above would have been a problem..
The easy option was to buy Windows 10, And may I say, I don't regret it.....
