Vinny Vella, who is widely known for starring in Sopranos and Casino, has died aged 72.

According to TMZ, his representative confirmed the news in a statement.

Very sad to hear that Peter Tork has gone. He was a damned good musician and comic actor. He played base guitar when required but I mainly remember him for excellent keyboard work. The Girl I Knew Somewhere is quite a good example - Mike Nesmith wrote the song but it was Peter Tork's idea to use a real harpsichord, and he played it with elan, blending seamlessly with Mike Nesmith's really top notch lead guitar introduction and then producing a very catchy instrumental bridge after the second verse. This song is reputed to be the first one they released in which they played all the instruments themselves with no other musicians involved.

Such a shame people can't remain in their prime forever, but he made a mark on the world as most of us don't manage to do.

Peter Tork was an excellent musician and writer. He was much more talented than he was given credit for.

Director Stanley Donen, perhaps most well known for Singin' in the Rain and On the Town, both of which he co-directed with Gene Kelly.
