I found the culprit

I deactivated Ghostery and the Imagebam thumbnail appeared

I clicked on the thumnail and got "continue to your image"(cookie) and then the display of the image itself

I reconfigured Ghostery to allow Imagebam thumbnails and it works

The most well known - ad-block plus - via easylist

Strangely easylist is on other ad-blockers like ublock origin
but doesnt have the same effect


Not far behind are those who start using add-ons like script blockers
that dont bother to read the instructions

No script - the most frequent culprit and is actually flagged by palemoon as causing issues

Script safe - literally its either on or off - no in between settings

Ghostery is somewhere between the ad & script blockers

If a browser has a safe mode (start with add-ons / extensions disabled)
its a good first test when experiencing site issues
