Search 500 limit

Is this a software imposed limit or have I missed a setting
I'm guessing a software limit

It is indeed a limitation within the forum-software. Either if you do regular searches, posts of the last 24 hours, members´ posts etc. etc...you´ll always get 500 entries maximum.

Server loads would spike way up if we extend the limit any more. The servers get overloaded at times now as it is so there is not way we can up the limit.

That's cool, I was placing " lagerlout " in my posts that I had upped links so I could keep an eye on any posts reporting dead links etc, and it suddenly stopped rising @ 500. Thought for a moment I was losing posts lol. Have since realized that any posts that get posted on will rise to the top anyways

I would love to see some solution, cos even limiting search to some sub forum is not always enough to get fewer results. Is it possible to specify a time frame of search beyond what's available currently from the drop down menu? For example - search posts with particular phrase only for the year of 2009? Then 500 limits is plenty. I don't think it's possible though

Unfortunately, you can only search with what is in the dropdown menu. We can't add extra options because those are the builtin options for the VB software itself.
