Model IDs and this mag coverT
This is an awkward question and thread, and I'm not even sure which (sub)forum this should be in (so feel free to move it if there is a better place for it)...
Several months ago I found an expired magazine listing (sold for $8 and change) where the cover had several handwritten names, pairing a few of the first names in the magazine with different first/last names. For example, the first two handwritten lines refer to the cover model as "Tracy Hopkins" and tell us that she appears inside the mag as "Alice". This caught my interest because this is the same model in my avatar (she had a zillion different looks and names), and I collect her magazines. (I have long had a copy of this issue, but would have bid on this one if I had seen it while the listing was active, just for the cover.) Is this the work of some crackpot who made up their own names for these models. or a photographer who has worked with them and thus knows them by name, or what? Based on listings I've seen for slides/transparencies, I've gotten the impression that first names in magazines are often but not always real first names, while any last names are usually fake. While this model had a zillion names in magazines, "Tracy" is one of the two most commonly used, including a photo shoot she did with Hannah Viek that appeared in several Challenge magazines as Hanna and Tracy. Any opinions or insights out there? Last edited by magnut; October 21st, 2016 at 08:42 AM.. |
