Getting Stitch Panorama to work in Gimp
I thought I'd try installing Gimp and the Stitch Panorama plugin for stitching some scans together. However, I can't get the plugin to work in Windows 10.
I installed GIMP 2.8.16 and then downloaded the Stitch Panorama plugin stitch_0.9.4.py which I put in the windows directory C:/Users/me/.gimp-2.8/plug-ins. After starting GIMP I can see the Stitch Panorama option under Filters-Utils menu but the option is greyed out. I also tried putting the plugin into the Program Files/GIMP 2/ Lib/gimp/plug-ins directory but this had the same effect. I checked in the GIMP Preferences-Folders-Plug-Ins and these directories are the right ones for the plugin. Looking at the plugin file I see this: #!/usr/bin/env python # # GIMP plug-in to stitch two images together into a panorama. # ................... "INSTALLATION: Linux: Copy this file to your gimp plug-in directory, e.g. ~/.gimp-2.2/plug-ins, then restart gimp and stitch panorama should appear in the Xtns/Utils menu. Make sure the file is executable (chmod +x stitch.py). Also, make sure to remove any old versions from your plug-in directory. Windows: Likely something similar to Linux, but I don't know for sure since I don't run windows. You will have to edit the very first line of this file to point to python on your system." ----------------------------------------------------------- So I guess that I have to edit the "#!/usr/bin/env python" line, but I'm not sure what I'm doing here. I'd appreciate any help to get this working. |

Thanks Jim. Yes, I saw your post but as far as I can see your tutorial is only for using the plugin. I am still stumbling around trying to get it properly installed. The documentation for the plugin doesn't reveal much as the writer says he doesn't use windows
