Image sorter recommendations
May I ask for recommendations for image sorting software please?
I used to use a wonderful little program named "sifter" from oopsware. http://www.oopsware.com/products.htm Sadly it no longer functions under Windows 7 and above. It would allow one to view an image and via shortcut buttons on the right either copy or move to a target directory. If it was a duplicate name it would display both images side-by-side and allow one to overwrite, delete, rename, or cancel the operation. I've seen some similar programs but nothing as elegant as sifter. I would like a large number of target folders. The more the better. But this is not set in stone as I will adapt to whatever works the best for me. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I'll take any suggestions for a test drive. Irfanview has a very simple and effective sorting function. It's actually the move option. It allows you to create shortcuts to 14 different folders. So all you have to do is press F7 and then the assigned button of the folder you want to move the pic to.
Here's a screenshot (actually of the copy function, but the move function looks just the same):

A long time ago I trialled both Duplicate File Hunter and SimilarImages. Both work on Win 7, but I found them unsatisfactory in various ways... the details of which now escape me, sorry. I know one would flake out (seemingly memory- i.e. RAM-related) with large file sets. /shrug/
Oh, & a third such app. is called VisiPics. /shrug/ All I'm suggesting is that you might consider trialling each yourself & see if any suit your needs/expectations. |

Oh, just to clarify: the above apps. are more for finding & (possibly) eliminating duplicate images, rather than simply for sifting/sorting per se. I should have mentioned that before, sorry.
