Or not paid at all. See Texas:

Up at 3:30 AM for a day of labor. And solitary confinement if you don't work.

All very interesting answers. Thing is, here we get foreigners in to do all the jobs no one else wants to do, which increases immigration extensively. Those immigrants not only take houses, claim benefits and take places on the NHS, but they're also allowed to vote in our elections, and all whilst our prison population just sits around watching TV. Trouble is, over here we're way too soft on prisoners. I even heard a lefty saying the other day that if we made prisoners work during their sentence then we should pay them the minimum wage! I, on the other hand, think they should do it for free. That way we kill two birds with one stone. The business gets its free labour whilst we also cut immigration.

You could also throw all foreigners in jail for stealing the jobs you don't want to do and them have them do that work for free.

Yes, I've heard about that. I think I've even seen footage of them doing it, wearing tags if I'm not mistaken? I also like the idea of having the criminals in the fields picking vegetables (a job that immigrants do for a small wage at the moment). That's much more preferable to having mass immigration and clogging up the system with too many people.

It's not the people themselves I disapprove of but rather the amount of people. If our employers want to exploit someone then the best ones to exploit are the convicts in jail.

Employers should employ not exploit, IMHO.

the part you're leaving out is if you can get prisoners to do to work for free then business well exploit that at the expense of the average working people thus undercutting their wages. If you're going to have prisoners do labor then make and that they are paid as much if not more than people on the outside. Also make sure that your immigrants are also getting paid the same rate as the natives. The problem is business always going to want cheap labor it will use any means to get it. As long as you keep Groove stratified then you will set up a situation where are the working class will be exploited.

Here is the biggest employer of convicts in the US. Straight from the Federal Government. https://www.unicor.gov/index.aspx

I do mean jobs that no one else wants to do. It saves importing labour from abroad, which we've been doing for decades. Immigration is a short term solution with long term and very expensive consequences to society. On the other hand, using criminals who'd otherwise be a waste of space to do all the rubbish jobs that no one else wants is a win win solution to the problem.

Default A Performance Review

My namesake ancestors were here before it was a country. On my dad's line, the farthest back we have been able to trace was a man born in New York in 1774. (In a stroke of luck, I have been contacted by a person in New England that has a DNA result showing common ancestry. We may be able to identify ancestors and trace through New England church records. One thing is certain, there were ancestors for all of us dating back for millennia. That is true even for Greenman.)

So, I feel qualified to say that as "the last best hope for mankind," we are doing a lousy job.
