Can I put in a polite request for folks to do a little work and try to figure out where images come from, who did them, rather than just posting a random assortment? Makes the thread much more valuable, and much easier to avoid dupes.

Take for example, this great image, a few posts above

Anyway, its in with a bunch of other images, completely unrelated-- what is it? Fortunately a Tineye search reveals a post on another forurm which makes clear what it is-- a bit of luck. A lot of the time Tineye comes up with nothing, and you're left wondering "well what is that?"

This is just one image from a terrific series of illustrations in two volumes by Mazzotti and Silvestroni called "Velvet Love"; I believe Mazzotti is the illustrator. This is great work, but if its just lost in a gemisch of unrelated images it doesn't get its due, and someone looking for it would have a hard time finding it or related material

Above we've got a collection of all sorts of images, many posted previously . . . no indication of who did them, a jumble. To take just one example:

This is a not at all good copy of a work by the 19th century Hungarian artist Mihaly ("Michael") Zichy, here's a better example:

This image was actually posted -- along with other images by Zichy, in the very first post #1 on this thread by Wulfram, more than 10 years ago!

could I politely ask you to take a look at what you're posting before putting up a jumble of images which have mostly been posted here already, a random selection of work by well known folks like Tom Poulton and Lamothe Phyne?

Posters like Wulfram and Mac1 made this a very useful thread by posting non-duplicate material, and posting work of artists together, not just a jumble.

Take Lamothe Phyne, the artist behind this image, on your bottom row:

mac1 had two comprehensive posts devoted to this artist, #779 which includes the image you posted along with other material which accompanied it,

Reposting this duplicate material in a jumble with other work by unrelated people like Tom Poulton -- also posted here extensively-- really does nothing.

I hope I'm not being too picky, but this thread has been a valuable resource for identifying obscure artists, due to the work of folks who took the trouble to try to figure out what goes with what -- just reposting duplicates of these images in an unsorted bin isn't helpful.
