Default Not actually a tune but a poem

While standing at a level crossing in the car today, the train came by and the poem from The Night Train came into my head.

For the rest of the day I have had "This is the night mail crossing the border, bringing the cheque and the postal order" rattling through my brain.

Anyway, here is a link to the poem

http://www.tynelives.org.uk/stephenson/poem.htm

And from the iconic film (which was in my head)

Many years ago when I was a first year undergraduate I was sitting one of my end-of-year examinations. The culmination of many months of study, and several weeks of revision, not to mention considerable fiscal expenditure, the exam was important, something To Be Taken Seriously. I was calmly collecting my thoughts before attempting to press on with my second essay of that morning and what should pop into my head to assist me with this endeavour?

Yes, the theme tune from 'Murder She Wrote'.

But not the whole thing, oh no. About ten seconds of it, going round and round in an endless loop, like some kind of musical Ouroboros.

For the remaining two hours, helpfully.

Not so much of a song but a bloody commercial on the radio. Back around 1978/79 when I was around 15/16 I went to bed as usual with radio on. Early on a Pioneer ad came on...."put a pioneer in your car and run your car on music". This !@#$%^& jingle stayed in my head all night and I was lucky to get to sleep around 2am. It drove me crazy and I thought I was in danger of having a psychotic episode. Lucky this was the only night it happened and in hindsight now I wonder why it never happened again. Maybe I never heard the ad again....well anyway that's my brush with a tune stuck in my head and I never want it to happen again.

One should never underestimate the appeal of cheap music – Coward. (From memory because I'm in too much of a hurry to check.)

It's a strange truth that we all have episodes when a tune stays with us regardless of taste. What happened before recording, wireless and so on?

"Hey diddy dum diddy hey nonny no"?

An antidote suggested to me. Repeat 'Itsy Bitsy Tiny Yellow Dot Bikini' - but it has to be the Timmy Mallet sung, Andrew Lloyd Webber produced version. Or it will stick as well. After two lines, the brain will say 'the horror' and purge it and the previous song.

Default Hanson - MMMBop

I have a niece who's the closest thing I'll ever have to a daughter. I used to hang out & babysit her when she was younger. We watched a lot of Nickelodeon & Cartoon Network stuff. One day, this song came on the TV & I've never been able to get it out of my head since. Once somebody mentions the song, it plays in my head. I can't stand the song. I think it's pure drivel that deserves to reside in the recycle bin of history. But, try as I might, I just can't get this song out of my head. Click the link if you dare...

Telling they don`t write them like this anymore , well not unless they have a weird disability which means they stutter over the written word

The theme song from the 1967 Casino Royale by Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass. I finally got it out of my head after making screencaps from the movie and now its back!!!

They've got us on the run
With guns
and knives
We're fighting for our lives!
Have no fear
Bond is here!
He's going to save the world
at Casino Royale.
