I'm planning to move to Leeds. I'm gonna get me a flat in a nice section of the city and a chick who looks like Honor Blackman circa 1968. How will I spend my time? Writing a book patterned after The Cruise Of The Snark about my travels in the "Far North."

Air conditioning is not standard in UK Homes.....however with global warming that may change.

There is a lot of hot air and blowhards around @ the mo'.....probably due to electioneering by our cherished leaders and politicos

Thumbs up

If you ever want to visit hot places in the U.S. like Florida, or Arizona, or southern California you will be kept cool wherever you go. Everything is air conditioned. And even the northern states use air conditioning in our usually hot, humid summers.

A lot of shops, malls and restaurants are air conditioned. The one local shop in my town that was not - and always like an oven in summer - was British Home Stores which, for overseas members, famously failed miserably after many years trading.

I wonder if Sir Philip Green (despicable owner) was too mean to install it and that contributed to its demise? Still, all the more profits left for him to spend on himself.

It´s absolutely essential where I live, here in Southern Spain, especially in the summer months which can be anywhere from March to October. The temperature today is 25 C, or if use still use old money 77 F. In July & August it is almost unbearably hot.

Strangely enough with all the energy that Air Con uses it contributes massively to global warming (if you believe in that sort of thing.....I'm not that convinced that it isn't just a long term weather pattern anyway and we're only contributing to it in a small way)

So maybe all the Air Con techies need to get together to put a massive one on the moon to cool everyone on Earth........I'm on the phone to the UN now.
