Pardoning is not illegal but it should not be legal without a check; that gives the President way to much power as Trump is probably about to prove if he pardons those involved in his crime. Congress should have been given a check on the pardon if the founding fathers had that foresight, that wisdom. They didn't I want judges that evolve as we do, as society does. I want a political party that evolves. The core difference. |

Around the Donald in 60 seconds...
Donald Trump: Brexit agreement is 'great deal for EU'
President Trump has said the Brexit deal is great for the EU and has cast doubt on whether the UK will be able to trade with the US. Speaking to reporters outside the White House, he said he didn't think Theresa May meant to make a deal that would mean the UK wouldn't be able to trade with the US. Asked outside the White House about the findings that unchecked global warming would wreak havoc on the US economy, he said: "I don't believe it." The report found that climate change will cost the US hundreds of billions of dollars and damage human health. Source: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-46351940

Trump on CNN
While CNN doesn’t do great in the United States based on ratings, outside of the U.S. they have very little competition. Throughout the world, CNN has a powerful voice portraying the United States in an unfair and false way. Something has to be done, including the possibility of the United States starting our own Worldwide Network to show the World the way we really are, Last edited by Mal Hombre; November 26th, 2018 at 09:14 PM.. Mr Trump must be aware that both Britain and the EU are trading with the United States now. It would not be logical for him to have raised all those tariff barriers otherwise. Beneath his incoherent language I take him to mean that our membership of a customs union with the EU will prevent us from negotiating a free trade agreement with the United States. He may well be correct, for as long as we stay inside such a relationship. How long that might be is a rather interesting question, given the lack of enthusiasm for Mrs May's squeal-like-a-pig-boy agreement. It's only a good deal for the EU if it gets past the House of Commons - otherwise it's more than likely to be a no deal Brexit.
If this is really the best deal Britain can get, I am willing to smile a lot, say thank you and pass. The EU is even already saying it wants the same access to British fishing grounds it has now. We might be needing large flotillas of new fisheries patrol vessels to enforce our right to say no to that. But I am not excited about the terrific deal Mr Trump might have offered us.

First I have heard of that bargaining chip. Hey if it ain't in the deal, it ain't in the deal. I gotta think 50 billion pounds is without that option.

Disclosure: I attended Catholic schools beginning in 3rd grade, through high school and 4 years of college. My undergraduate degree is from a Catholic liberal arts college. I find it difficult to believe that intelligent human beings can believe the load of hooey that the Church puts out. (Some of the moral and ethical provisions and spiritual exercises are quite good, however.) But I greatly admire several classmates who are believers, especially the man who is now a bishop. He expressed his desire to enter the priesthood while we were still in grammar school. He really liked being a parish priest, but is too smart and talented for the Church to leave there. I don't know that there is any man I admire more. Frankly, I wish that I had the comfort of having faith and being a good Catholic, but I find too much of the doctrine and politics to be BS. |

General Motors Co. will likely have to lay off nearly 6,000 salaried workers after roughly 2,250 employees requested to take the buyout the Detroit automaker offered to North American salaried employees and global executives last month.
The number of employees who asked to take the buyout was outlined in a portion of a memo to employees from CEO Mary Barra, obtained by The Detroit News. GM said Monday it was targeting 8,000 jobs with the buyouts, a benchmark the company will now have to meet with about 5,750 layoffs. Managers from each department were given cost-cutting goals to meet by the end of the year, which could be met by addressing discretionary spending or leveraging buyouts. The managers still have to approve the buyout requests from their employees before GM knows exactly how many employees it needs to lay off. The automaker offered buyouts to 18,000 salaried workers on Halloween, and the deadline to accept the offer was last week. Under GM's buyout offer, eligible employees could receive six months' pay and six months' health care coverage starting in February, though on a case-by-case basis some employees could leave before the end of the year to effectively get eight months' compensation. The expected layoffs come as GM is also planning to stop production at five plants next year, including Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly and Warren Transmission, affecting about 14,300 jobs across the company. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/bu...rs/2115695002/ "You'll get so tired of winning" Wait until Ford lays off a few thousand more workers. http://fortune.com/2018/10/09/ford-s...trade-tariffs/
