This may not be the best thread in which to bring this up. GDP counts consumption and government spending as "productivity." Thus buying beer and government weapons programs count the same as investments in new factory machinery or rehabbing roads and failing bridges. Note that buying consumables is a one time event and economists believe that military spending diverts funds from productive investments.

Some military spending is necessary given the world we live in, but is the United States in imminent danger of being invaded?

Anyway, many question the use of GDP as a true measure of a nation's economic health.

Mr Putin is truthful about his agenda and his priorities. It contrasts strongly with Mr Trump, who doesn't even know what his policy agenda is; but who, if he did have a policy agenda, would certainly lie about it as a matter of principle.

Does Trump even know where Montenegro is?

Does he know that "aggressive" Montenegro's army would fit in a medium sized movie theatre?

Does Trump know that the Montenegro that he might not support, has a sizable percentage of it's tiny armed forces in Afghanistan right now serving on behalf of the United States under NATO's Article 5, invoked before Montenegro even became a member? There's gratitude for you!

That would be because Flight MH17 was shot down from rebel controlled territory by a unit of the Russian Army.

Guided over an area of active combat operations by air traffic controllers in Kiev. Which makes Kiev a prime suspect.

Letting a prime suspect take part in an ongoing investigation, and thereby giving him the opportunity to influence the outcome of the very same investigation equals a confession of guilt in my book.

Confession of what exactly? It was the Russian military which fired the missile, an act of criminal stupidity when civilian airliners were well known to be frequenting the airspace. Why they were there is a question for the Kiev air traffic controllers and also for the airlines which did not divert their routes, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines and Air India, not to mention Aeroflot. But it was the 53rd Anti-Aircraft Rocket Brigade which fired the missile; violating Ukrainian soil and Ukrainian air space in a conflict in which the Russian Federation claimed to be playing no part.

I would submit his does know what his policy is: to take the US out of NATO. Why that is his policy is open to question. It may simply be a restatement of the historical American isolation policy; more insidiously, it could be an attempt to form a strategic partnership with Russia as a bulwark against a resurgent China.

If Montenegro was being aggressive, NATO would not invoke Article 5, that's only for defence... Someone who has problems with double negatives shouldn't be anywhere near a nuclear button.
