Another bicycle beauty today ...

I'm approaching a stop light at a "T" intersection, and as you approach the light the road splits into two lanes -- the left lane for left turns and the right lane for right turns.

As I approach the light I think my eyes are playing tricks on me. At first I thought it was a small motorbike, but it was a bicyclist stopped behind the car in front of me waiting for the light to turn green.

When the light turned green the car in front of me made his left turn, the bicyclist sandwiched between me and the other car made his left turn, and I made mine. After having made his turn the bicyclists pulled over to the right side of the road near the curb and began pedaling along. Luckily all went without an incident.

I don't know what planet wackos like him are from, thinking that they can drive their bike wherever they choose. Its one thing for a bicyclist wanting to observe the stop light, but he took it to the extremes operating in the middle of the road and acting like a motor vehicle!

The kicker is that intersection has a crosswalk with a push button to stop traffic to allow pedestrians/bikes to cross, and if the clown took the time to notice that is what he should have used instead of possibly endangering himself.

That reminds me of a daily annoyance of mine.
Closeby my home we have an intersection with buttons for the blind (which will make sounds so blind people know when they can safely cross the street)

Guess who are the 99,9% of dumb people who push those buttons?
Answer: indeed, not the blind.

But what annoys me the most is when people mash that button and the light happens to turn green right after!

We have a number of those pedestrian push buttons here in my town, and what I find somewhat comical (but not in a mean way), is when some old person who is only able to walk at a snail's pace gets only halfway across the street when the green "Walk" signal turns to red "Don't Walk"
Now the poor soul is in the middle of the street, and the cars despite having a green light, must wait for the poor soul to finish crossing.

Careful now, under the traffic laws the cyclist may have been in compliance behaving as he did. Technically bicycles are vehicles.

It might be helpful if authorities everywhere began issuing waves of citations to cyclists riding on sidewalks, on the wrong side of the road, and blowing through stop signs, etc. With the current anarchy and scofflaw approach of cyclists combining with a resurgence in bike traffic, many more cyclists will be killed and badly injured.

I don't think there are any British people left in London, only tourists and migrants

My sister used to work for a guy who got in trouble for riding his bicycle while drunk - he was stopped by the police and charged with being drunk in charge of a vehicle. What actually got him in hot water was that he became belligerent and argued with the police about it, because he was convinced that what he was doing was completely legal, and that he could get drunk and then cycle home and there was nothing wrong with that.

My sister said it was good thing anyway, because apparently the guy did it all the time and it was a miracle he hadn't been killed, and this incident stopped him doing it.

We've had a couple of weeks of dry sunny weather, the first real heatwave since 1976, and suddenly we're all doomed . The media are screaming climate change, and how this will be the norm from now on, and why we've got to change our lifestyles ,buildings ect,ect .Was it climate change 42 years ago? Remind me of this next summer when it'll be pishing down as usual

I would honestly love to know where he has been - perhaps some rougher areas of East London?

This map may help - I live on the west side.

We've actually had over 50 days of it. Crops are failing, farmers are losing livelihoods and animals are suffering for lack of water. Older people are ill in hospitals owing to difficulty breathing. My mother is suffering greatly and I have had to buy an air-con unit for her.

In Japan, Sweden and Greece people are dying in fires and floods. The hottest summers have all been within the last 15 years and it is increasing year on year. Buildings and work practices are not being altered or built to sustain this change or to conserve water.

1976 was indeed exceptional but that was a once in many years event - now it happens about once every four to five years.

We do need to start thinking about this and I reckon you might be one of the first to complain if governments and those who shape our environment failed to act. This may not be a time to panic...yet, but there is certainly no place for complacency.

Back to road crossings,What annoys Me is when people push the button then don't wait for the signal,That means traffic has to stop even though there's no one at the crossing.
