The NON-English songs
Hi, I don't know if a topic like this was already opened. If it's the case, no problem if a mod merge this one with an older one. If not...
We must say that English language dominate the world of pop-music. I personally listen tons of English songs. Probably like billion of people. But what about a topic about non-english songs you like ? Only to know maybe singers or music using less popular languages we don't know. I'll start with few songs of a French singer-songwriter and guitarist called Francis Cabrel (born 23 November 1953 in Agen (France)): Francis Cabrel - La corrida (Remastered) Francis Cabrel - Encore et encore (Remastered) Francis Cabrel - Je t'aimais, je t'aime, je t'aimerai (Remastered) Françis Cabrel - Petite Marie (Remastered) L'encre de tes yeux (Remastered) If you appreciated his song, here is his Francis Cabrel Youtube channel. |

Tout Petit la Planète - Plastic Bertrand was another popular song of Punky Plastic, less popular, but probably his second most popular in French speaking countries. Tout petit, tout petit, la planète. |

hard to argue with that That song was actually written by someone else (Lou Deprijck), who is now shagging ladyboys in Thailand. But he didn't have the looks, hence Plastic bertrand I'll try to add some lesser Belgians (in dutch and in french) soon. Last edited by cicciobuki; June 26th, 2019 at 10:59 PM.. I'll start simple, with Arbeid Adelt! an 80ies electronic new wave band, using dutch (flemish) lyrics.
Marcel Vanthilt - known from MTV, Jan Vanroelen and Luc van Acker (known frommany things, such as The Revolting Cocks) Some highlights: De dag dat het zonlicht niet meer scheen (the day the sun didn't shine anymore) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hdmn3H9TyOk A parody on a flemish crooner/schlager song/singer. De man die alles noteert (the man who writes down everything) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAQI8mWbNc8 a downtempo song, could be about a private eye ...or a stalker. Ik sta scherp (i'm 'on edge) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxuiNS2I1WU in 2015 they made a new album, and it still sounds good: Popcorn Mario https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwzpDoaWLnw and maybe their best known song is this Death Disco, a mostly instrumental P.I.L. cover: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpGkgPM5osU Only, they thought they were covering PIL's disco death, but actually it was fodderstompff (i think). Typical But a strong track! |

Mainly listening Serbocroatian and Slovenian, specially Yugoslavian New Wave style, but I still have to work on idea how to present it to some outside area...
So, let's have a wider, soft switch: French, Claude François - "Comme d'habitude". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avr5nvY4wxg |

"Bella Ciao" (Ciao, beauty), Italian popular traditional love-partisan-WW2 song played by Croatian-Yugoslavian punk band KUD Idijoti. Strange fact: in more original form it was (and is) relatively often used as funeral-song of woman which fighted in WW2, eg, noticeably, Jovanka Broz.
Italian, KUD Idijoti - "Bella Ciao". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W07NKe3dxx8 |
