A Few Words for Max

Max's sister asked Me to write a few words to be read at His funeral on the 19th, This is what I came up with...

I considered Max to be one of My closest friends, We never met and spoke only the once, Something that I will ever regret. Despite this I consider Our friendship to be as close and as real as any. I and his many , many online friends are still shocked, Still numbed ,Still expecting to see his name in the list of Members Online. To read his posts , Funny , Weird , irreverent, ofttimes angry but always heartfelt and well crafted. We try to keep his spirit alive, Not in a mauldlin way ,Max would have scorned that but with humour and affection.
I will miss him, We will all miss him but as long as We remember Him , He will not be truly gone.

I have sent this to Her and Max's Mum, I wondered if there was anything anyone would like to add.

I'd just add he would always be the first to jump in and help anyone he thought was being unfairly treated. He was also very self effacing in his PM's despite his somewhat wacky public persona.

I don't pop into the forum as much as I used to so I'm shocked and saddened to read that he's gone. He was such a character on these boards. I am so sorry. My condolences to everyone who knows him and his family.

Is there a link to an official announcement for those of us only just finding out.

Sorry to be late with this.

I miss him so much, this is hard to even say. He supported me here from day one and stood behind me on everything.

It took me too long to actually break through and get the idea through to him that my most important job at this forum is to know when a staff member has real life concerns to deal with and needed a break to do this because he always kept insisting that he was fine and I should worry about myself.

I swear I got to the point that I was ready to get on a plane to the UK even though I hate flying and find him and smack him upside the head for being so stubborn.

I finally broke through and we helped each other get through some things and I miss that so much that you cannot even begin to comprehend.

I miss you Max, I wish you were still here. We'll keep trying to keep your legacy alive but it will be difficult without you being here with us.

I'm still holding out hope that this is just another of his wacky stunts, and one day soon he'll jump back online & slag us all off for some the often maudlin comments we've made over his passing.... But also know this just isn't going to happen. Was clearing out my pm's other day, as getting full, came across several of the messages we'd exchanged a time ago, made me smile, made me slightly tearful, made me remember what a fucking brilliant man he was.... Missed? Too bloody right he's missed!!!

(Made sure to spell check this and use capitals where necessary, as he'd have hated this comment otherwise, and told me rightly all about myself & my too often lazy attitude.)

They just mentioned Top Gun on the radio and Max popped into mind.

How on Earth have I missed this? Like all the other contributors here, I am shocked and saddened about Max's passing.

He always came across as witty and an all-round decent guy.
