I have Firefox 62 and this morning I couldn't close a tab directly I had to go to another tab and click on the tab that I wanted to close from there and I also couldn't type in the address box. It was like Firefox was partially frozen. Is this happening with anyone else?

Is that why Firefox asked to shut down to do an update?

Quite possibly yes. You can check to see if you're up to date by click help, about Firefox and if it says "check for updates", click on that for the latest one to be installed.

Default FF 69 ISO t.u.m.b.l.r. downloader

Well I've hung on to v43 as long as I can. Has worked fine, still using IHG without problems, almost. More and more sites though have dropped support for such old versions and now either IHG doesn't work or v.43 itself doesn't.

I've downloaded FF v69 and added halvar's imgding. Excellent work.

I'm looking for a new bulk downloader compatible with t.u.m.b.l.r.

Running Mac OSX 10.12 Sierra.

Thanks for help and suggestions.

Firefox is teetering on the edge of irrelevance, now in 3rd place behind Edge w/ the Chrome engine. This mistake of a release must have been in the works for awhile, but you can get the old address bar back, thanks to this from ghacks.net:

Quote:
For now though, Firefox users may make the following configuration changes to get the old address bar back:

1. Load about:config in the browser's address bar.
2. Confirm that you will be careful.
3. Search for the following preferences and set them all to FALSE
1. browser.urlbar.openViewOnFocus
2. browser.urlbar.update1
3. browser.urlbar.update1.interventions
4. browser.urlbar.update1.searchTips
5. browser.urlbar.update1.view.stripHttps
4. Restart the Firefox web browser.
