Default VEF in Firefox problems

I am testing Firefox ESR with uBlock Origin (and a few other add-ons) and I have two problems I need guidance to solve:

1. I no longer have white drop-menu arrows at VEF (examples: beside 'Search' and 'Quick Links' near the top of every VEF page).

2. The 'Smilies' buttons in "Post New Thread" pages (like I am typing into at this moment) no longer work.

Please, what is blocking these things in Firefox, uBlock Origin, or other add-ons?

(Note: There may be other problems related to these two that I haven't found yet, so suggest ideas for diagnosis if you have some!)

Help, please!

Stop! Everything started working just now for no known reason! I will experiment to see what might have happened ...

Encounter with this problem few days ago (also FF + uBlock). Also can't post and write PM's. After PC restarting problem disappear.

P.S. Maybe someone trying to steal accounts?

Cash bastards selling sisterforum accounts:

I don't think it's uBlock, as i use it too and the drop down menu's and smilies all work normally.

Though in the past (before the new FireFox) sometimes those smilies wouldn't show up. Or a quote would result in an empty box to type in (and not show the quoted part). Those were always temporary problems.

Edit: oops, i didn't see the 'ESR' part, thought you meant Quantum, sorry. Even so, i doubt it would be uBlock...

Thank you qws and cicciobuki.

My problem is fixed but I figured out only part of the reason for the problem. It was my fault.

i) First I incompletely toggled 2 default settings that I wanted in uBlock Origin . (I use it to block only problems and trackers--I have nothing against responsible adverts.)

ii) Second, I wrote a special dynamic filter for uBlock that Firefox didn't like because I didn't follow uBlock's instructions properly.

Hard lessons (for other people) that I have learned:

--uBlock Origin and Firefox are good products and relatively easy to use. If you're doing something special to them then pay attention to what you're doing.

--If I change settings when any tabs are open in Firefox I must close all of those tabs before the changes will take effect!

--Sometimes if Firefox (or any browser) doesn't look like it is working then refreshing the page makes everything clearer or else it starts it working again.

Sorry for the abrupt interruption (I feel shame) and thank you for your help & consideration. I hope this has helped someone else, too.
