Visit the grave of Trevor Goddard (Mic Brumbe JAG) and enyoy the sun and weather. But i have carefull because all the snakes.

While that i search both Moderators blondifan and Grey Wolf to drink a lot of beer until somebody lost there mother languarge.

It's hard to get into a discussion about politics. No one elected is going to please everyone. Plus, elections here are literally popularity contests. Just because the majority puts someone up as PM doesn't make them the best choice. It'd be interesting if voters had to qualify with an IQ test or something. I think personality plays a big role in who gets in, and it's hard to avoid that - Bill Shorten bears a remarkable similarity to cardboard, so how can you vote for him?

As for Howard being a POS, what do you base that on? Boat people? Because that's a complex issue, not helped by bands like Powderfinger getting into the debate by calling him "John Coward". Because yeah, that really helps Bernard, you wanker.

The populace doesn't choose the leaders, the parties do. It was typical of Abbott's arrogance to say that "the people of Australia elected me..." when it was a party decision he won by one vote.
The people elected the Coalition because they weren't the dysfunctional Labor party. Something should be said of preferences of Independents and minor parties, along with those votes that went missing.
The Coalition weren't so much elected, as much as Labor wasn't.

Australian's have a short memory, come election time, but who can forget the "Children Overboard" scandal when Howard was trailing in the polls as the last election Howard won was being held.

My money is on Tabbott being the worst PM since Billy McMahon.

Haha that's common! Seemed to me like Rudd got in based on one thing - people were sick of Howard. He should've realised this and handed the reins to Costello (my father thinks he could've been an effective PM).

I haven't forgotten, but if you assume for a moment that Howard acted on unclear information, it's not enough to write off his whole time in office (well, based on my limited knowledge).

As I say, it's hard to please as PM. Someone in the community gets the short straw (I agree that the rich should be the first to give back). It must be rare for any politician to serve their term and have the majority say "well, that was actually pretty good."

He is the first politician I know of who started the "Race to the bottom" antics that we are all too familiar with nowadays. Not just being the first, he ramped it up and took it to another level.

The obsession of low interest rates (Which was an easy tactic to attack Keating) now has a paralysing effect on the country. Record low interest rates atm, which is intended to stimulate activity, but nobody wants to do anything with it.

Howard's legacy of shitness will remain for decades.

Seems odd I know considering he comes across as a shifty kind and a turd, but I also think he has balls to do something and speak his mind

See, I loved Paul Keating, Jeff Kennett and that kind, The reason is you know you're gonna get screwed with them and they rarely hid that fact. They didn't bow to the popular opinion of the day just to win another election, they did what's right long term. Pyne reminds me of them a little.

I wish our current pollies had balls to do something
