I don't use the premium version of CCleaner. I use the free version which just cleans, empties the trash bin, cleans out the junk files that build up when you are in a website. It's quite benign.

i used the free CCleaner too, for years, until a few weeks ago when i didn't pay enough attention and it resetted all my settings in Firefox.
Was so pissed i threw it out!

My patience with CC was already growing thin, as they would always try to install extra stuff during an update.

I always do a custom install so the update is only what I want.

The gods of the internet must see me as a favoured son. I just do what Kaspersky, CCleaner, Ghostery, AdBlock and NewsGuard tell me to and it all works out fine

I also clear out everything once I finish. I use CCleaner to take out stuff like temporary Internet files and run my AV quite a lot.

Oh, you would love Berkeley and Oakland with all our Vegan lesbians.

Thank God we also have some excellent barbecue places to load up on semi-burned meat. Nothing like eating slightly charred dead chicken, cow, or pig with your hands to make one feel like a real man again. Even better to wash it down with some Jameson's, single malt Scotch, or sour mash afterwards.

Yeah, I usually did that too, but last time i was in a bit of a hurry (i know that is on me) and in the same fraction of a second i clicked OK while i saw i forgot to uncheck the "also install virusscanner x" (i forgot the name, it's not important).
So i sat there watching it all unpack and install without any abort option and hupla, i had 2 virus scanners running

It's those already checked checkboxes that annoy me.

That said, in general CC was not bad.

Make sure that when you use CCleaner, never, never clean the computer registry. That can really screw things
up. What I don't like about CCleaner is that they come out with new versions too often. I usually check with my computer expert first. He is privy to all info about each new version. He once called me to say not to install one because Piriform the company that owns CCleaner detected that a particular version had viruses in it. The version that I'm using now is v5.59.7230(64 bit).

Exactly, which was the reason i was a bit annoyed and wanted to hurry things up a bit. And that checked box is placed very strategically.
