It's in this mornings Telegraph too. Apparently some students at Cambridge have being boasting on 'social media' that they have voted twice.

It is illegal and they may be condemned by their own posts. I must say though Cambridge is supposed to attract the brightest of our youth. If they're stupid enough to boast about this perhaps Preston College of Further Education would be more suitable for them.

Voting is more polarised by age than ever before and the average age of a Tory voter is getting older and older, the age of the average Labour voter is getting younger and younger, and are now getting more politically mobilised especially by internet campaigning.

Also more and more are graduates, and graduates are far more likely to vote Labour. People in poor health were more likely to vote Tory so this does not bode well for their respective futures.

I think it's far too simplistic to say that older people vote Conservative and young people vote Labour.

A better stereotype is to say that older people tend to vote the same as they've voted in previous elections (often regardless of policy shifts), whereas younger people (who have little or no voting history) tend to vote against the party that's currently in office.

You can't enforce UK law in a foreign jurisdiction. The one way of possibly doing it in the EU using EU law is now gone as well.

The Labour/Tory split is more on demographics and social views now like in the USA. The problem for the Tories is that their old base is dying (as is their pompous outdated view of the world) and what ever happens with Brexit there will be a lot of unhappy leavers who won't vote for them next time.
You have just answered your own question, Vince. One day they will probably want to come back.

In other words people become more conservative as they age - that won't change. And because of the post war baby boom the numbers of the greedy old f*ckers is increasing.

And we're living longer than any previous generation. And those of us who are graduates did real degrees at real universities.

The more they raise the pension age the more slowly they will become more Tory especially if they can't afford to buy a property so don't have so much to 'conserve'.

Raising pension age to 68 for those born in the 70s, that was very kept quiet until after the election wasn't it.
All done to ease the burden on the younger generation they say?
Wasn't that the idea of ending the triple lock which has now been dropped?

I didn't know that. Sneaky bastards. I never understood why people weren't allowed to top up their state pensions.

Sounds like what they do to social security over here. Raising the age or lowering benefits in order to "save" it

Exciting breaking news, or not?

Vince Cable becomes the new fresh leader of the Lib Dems!

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/jul/20/vince-cable-named-lib-dem-leader-as-no-other-candidate-emerges

Tim Farron said that his successor was "well and truly strong and Cable".

Yeah, like your cock up his ass Tim

It wouldn't have been very smart to announce it before the election - look what happened with the "Dementia tax?? The greedy, selfish, baby boomer old bastards turned on the Tories for that and nearly let in the clown Corbyn

The triple lock is f*cking nonsense, anyone with tuppence worth of sense knows that - so's the free bus pass, [ I've got one with my smug face on it] as is the 200 bangers heating allowance! All bribes from various parties over the years to buy the grey vote.

Thank God I was born in 1950.
