@easyed: Marianne Gravatte is Miss October, 1982, not Miss October, 1998, I happened to catch the mistake made.

Not sure this is allowed, but here's a spreadsheet with most of the data captured. http://www.mediafire.com/file/u23z1w..._favorites.zip It tends to show more attention to the Playmates not chosen, I think. Thanks to all that contributed! |

Long answer: Culling the data had some issues -- some people chose more or less than 30. most didn't list them in order of preference. etc... If you listed them in order, then the top PM got 30 points. The second got 29 points, etc... If you said "these are my favorites in no established order", then they ALL got 1 point. Many people gave a few favorites then the "rest". This is why the point total is important, but the entries(number of VEF users who voted in that PM) is also important. The average is the mean of the entries... it really has little value. The advantage to the spreadsheet is that you can see the models sorted by time or year or by entries or by total points. The last field showed how many users gave that PM the number 1 position. Clearly some high, shared favorites. Loving and Lange really pushed it to the top. My two cents about the eras: The early era(before 59 or so) has a lot of nude models. The early mid era(59 to 68 or so) is the girl next door type. A much more wholesome image. The hot era(69-85 or so) is the hottest girl we could find era. Focusing more on facial beauty, but often yielding to the pinnacle of feminine pulchritude(top-heavy hourglass figure for you neanderthals out there). This era is also the most revealing; which I think is especially influencial in choosing favorites. The layout is to display the PM in a private, fully-revealing, letting-you-see-her-private-parts-as-a-lover-would manner. Face it, how many times have you looked at pictures of girls you REALLY like and they are just topless and you barely take a second glance? We need the whole girl. And while I'm ranting, the attraction is 95% in the face; the body type and body features and shapes are secondary! The hef-doesn't-give-a-flying era(86 to 94 or so) is clearly seeing a quality slip in the facial department. Much heavier emphasis on appealing to the men's mag image of a sexual figure and leaving most men uninterested. Additional trade-related problems are severely impacting the quality of the final product: a large hit in the quality of the magazine paper used, the switch to digital photography, and the unfortunate, irresistable urge to airbrush/photoshop/post-photography-editing of the pictures. The late era(95 to now) is even farther down the line. Quality of photoshoots and probably photographers continuing to slip. Some gorgeous girls not getting the fair shake they should have had in the magazine. I would like to see a Marilyn Monroe or Alyssa Arce 1979 layout! Thanks for looking at the spreadsheet. I think it's fun! |

I wish I had voted earlier and had my rankings added in. Stacy would have 1 (#1) ranking. The first thing that caught my attention with Sanches was her curves. Dorman is shaped the same. They have identical stats 34-24-36...both 5ft 10in I asked Stacy to measure herself again when she had her website. 37-24-36 is what she came back with. 5ft 10 inches tall and only a 24 inch waist! incredible. |

My appreciation for this poll and the person(s) who ran it. Wish I had got to know of it earlier. At least I would like to share some of my conclusions from the consensus results.
I am glad you gave number of votes more importance than points. The votes were definitive while the points were skewed due to people ordering or not ordering their list totally or partially. Also kudos that you took the pain to remove duplicate votes. The only year in the 80s which did not make the top list is 1985. I think 1988 is actually the weakest year of the 80s but it does have one outstanding Playmate. 1985 is probably the second weakest with no one Playmate that much of a stand out. Even though she made the top list I still feel Lisa Matthews received less votes than expected. The most surprising name in the top list for me is Cathy St. George. No doubt she is a fine Playmate but not one I could have envisaged in the top list since not only would I have picked many before her but whatever I have learnt of consensus on Playmates before seeing this poll, there are several easily ahead of her. The only lady from the 60s in the top list is Cynthia Myers. She remains a dear favorite for so many of us. Ruth Guerri just fell off my list but it's really nice to see her in the top list. What a fantastic Playmate!!! As many as five Playmates have been picked from 1982. No surprise that it is the consensus best ever year for Playmates. 1998 is my personal favorite but not much love for it here. Only 10 in the top list are from outside the 80s. The 80s certainly have their backers including yours truly. Last but not the least it pinched to see Alexandra Tyler get no votes. I really should have participated in time. Overall a wonderful top list. Several of them are those who invariably win such polls and count among the best in the eyes of many Playmate fans over the years. |

The other interesting observation I think is the one Playmate who is not on this list, who, among people who don't follow Playboy, is probably the most famous Playmate of them all. I'm talking about Pamela Anderson. I think she's very pretty, of course, but she's not even close to making my Top 30, and apparently, not close to making the Top 30 of many of the people participating on this board.
