Sorry if I upset you - no disrespect intended to her - just not an artiste with whom I find any connection.

But, in my defence, this is the "Things Noticeable" thread - not the "RIP" thread. So observations made here were about saturation coverage and not about the sad death of a clearly very talented lady.

Pax.

Man, this BBC top spot seems to be a huge deal

Keep in mind that famous people affect the lives of many (be it good or bad).
Emotional impact is what makes a news item a top spot contender.

I'm sure the audience wants such a thing to be the top spot, just like it will be the number one topic the next day at work or school.

Menachim Begin organized the bombing of the King David Hotel, which killed a number of your countrymen, but nobody complained when he was elected p.m. of Israel. So I guess that in your world terrorist acts 50 years old are a basis for current policy, but terrorist acts 70 years old are meaningless?

[snip]
So you must deeply admire Ms May?
If you check, you will see that I have more than once said my piece regarding the Stern Gang and the terrorist acts against British servicemen in the years immediately after WW2. I see a lot of meaning in Britain's past history with Israel and I have neither forgotten nor forgiven it. You may have confused me with someone else.

I am a bit puzzled by your comment re Mrs May. I have no favourable opinion of her, not since she thought she was so certain to win the 2017 general election that she included a pledge to bring back foxhunting.

Oh I took no personal offense from them. I just wondered why such negatives about some one who had just died and was not a crook, politician (same thing?), child molester, etc.

I guess from some of the posts that the BBC is airing a lot of coverage? Now that I can see hit a nerve but it sure wasn't Aretha's fault.

Come on lads keep it friendly.

Did you see the story of Sir Bruce Forsyth-his ashes are now buried under the stage of the London Palladium which was so beloved of the entertainer and it was his wish that his wife Wilnelia grant that wish. As if the Palladium's most famous son would be turned down by them. Didn't he do well!

When that happens we'll watch C4 News, they will be too busy reporting about Trump even notice a minor thing like that.

Saw this on the BBC news site [they must have run out of good things to say about Aretha].

Nobody's doing well except pensioners. Ungrateful old bastards!

Noticed it's very humid out again and will be so for the next few days but it is set to cool down again at the weekend. Also noticed these damn small flies around the back door, how they keep getting in we don't know but we think they could be fruit flies. I keep spraying the area with RAID fly and wasp spray but the buyers keep returning.
