I was thinking more of the way the women are described as trophies and objects. It's like that's the job description. If they have kids doing it now...(Yes I know the real reason is that women hate beautiful women)

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/02/06...lead-role.html
Social justice activists at a New York high school successfully shut down a production of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” after a white student landed a lead role. Protests of the production began when an African-American student quit Ithaca High School’s musical production due to the role of Esmeralda being given to a white classmate. I guess none of these kids have ever seen "The Wiz". Move along. No double standard to see here. |

I used to go out in the morning and totally disappear with my friends until lunchtime. Then I'd disappear until dinnertime. Ballgames, bike rides, mischief, whatever... as long as my grades were OK they'd let me be.
Today, my parents would probably be arrested by agents of the nanny-state.

Snowflakes have the internet for communicating their opinions
Past generations didnt but i bet they had as many dislikes Rose coloured glasses does wonders for remembering only the good Zombie films were aimed at Generation X If that had any large scale truth to it we'd be back living in caves hunting & gathering by now The media do a fantastic job in manipulating the ageing generations worst fears Thank god no generation turned out like the previous one otherwise we'd be in steep decline as a species. Every generation should be judged individually not as a whole Quote:
on a night out comes in at about 3/4,000 dollars - naive to say the least Designer sneakers arent something you wear in public if your wise Someone killed recently for a pair From Gen Y onwards the marketing machine made each generation Brand Warriors The big change for mine is technology in the class room often sponsored by corporations Thats before you even get to sexualisation & gambling Technology makes it childs play to manipulate the young alas Last edited by buttsie; February 7th, 2018 at 02:39 AM.. Long story but, friend of mine used to be one of the local newsreporters. We were chatting once, I mentioned seeing stories in the local paper about a woman having handbags stolen, estimated total loss on some was over $1,250. Assuming that the bulk of that was from money in the handbag, I said "Who the hell carries that much cash on them?" Friend said that he had made the same observation to a local female law enforcement type from a previous theft of handbag occurrence. Female law enforcer said that the total amount if from both the bag, and the contents, then added that a half way decent hand bag will run north of $750...and this story took place 20 years ago. I can only imagine what one would run these days. |

I under estimated
Which country or city probably makes a huge difference
A new research by retailer McArthurGlen has revealed that the contents inside a woman's handbags are more expensive than a small car, reaching the staggering value of £3,144. However, the overall worth of items varies and relies on the price tag of each item. The survey has concluded that while an average woman carts around £512 of stuff, some others can walk out of home carrying £3,144 worth of items. 2015 Most expensive range of handbag contents: 1. Jewellery: £944 2. Tablet: £698 3. Mobile phone: £500 4. E-reader: £499 5. Purse (cash): £200 6. Make up: £150 7. Hairbrush: £51 8. Stationary: £51 9. Diary organiser: £51 Total = £3,144 http://www.independent.co.uk/life-st...-10143601.html 10. Mace 11. Condoms 12. Ecstacy 13. Adrenalin 14. Hit Flask 15. Suture kit 16. Defibrillator 17. Is it really so different? Are we not wearing rose coloured glasses?
For instance, tthose that have been to softplay centres, you can throw yourselves around, crash and bash your way through, ball pits (instead of stones) swinging bags, balancing beams and then still get a plate of pizza n chips afterwards. If the consoles and phones had been around in my youth (early 80's) then we would've lapped them up. I loved Pacman or Asteroids on their own device, so I can't really criticise the yoof for doing the same. Are we infact, a bit jealous? |

All I had to play games on as a child was an Atari 2600 (remember those blocky graphics?) and a selection of handheld games. Remember those little handheld football games with the red LEDs for men? All the rage at school at one point. Had a few others too, an offbrand Space Invaders sort of game and a combat game, and a Pac-Man. A trip to the local videogame arcade was always much anticipated. Now on the same size of device you can play games we really couldn't even have imagined back then. I'd like to go back to 1981 and present my younger self with a tablet loaded up with some of today's games. I expect my younger self wouldn't leave his room for a month.

We'd play hockey or in the summer baseball in Canada. When we moved to Michigan, it was football and baseball until dark. Before we went to bed though we'd better be done with our homework...or at least devised a good ruse.
.....but then, I don't remember any grade school shootings back then, either....

Example, when I was a kid, pre-teen into mid-teens, friends and I would take our .22s, walk a main road without anyone taking notice, down to the creek about a mile below our house, shoot turtles and what not, crossing someone's land that was not owned by anyone that we were related to, and nobody thought anything of it...not us, not the land owner, not other people. (I should add that the owner of the land did know us, did know we were crossing his land, knew our families from way back, was aware we were doing it, and didn't care as long as we didn't shoot any of his cattle or damage anything.) Today, we would have the SWAT team called on us, the owner of the land would prosecute us for trespassing, our parents would be prosecuted for child neglect, we would be put into some kind of foster home by the state child welfare people, and be marked for life as criminals. So yes, things have changed. |
