Has anyone ever heard of Wimpy's? I went to Spain with my folks when I was 10 (1976). Being the ugly American that I was even then, I wasn't too keen on the local chow. Wimpy's was the closest thing to an American burger chain we could find. I seem to recall it being a bit like White Castle. Anyone?

I've never heard of Wimpy's, but White Castle has to be one of the most nastiest places I ever Eat from in my life...I tried it once about ten years ago and It left a bad taste in my mouth for hours! That was only like two of their burgers!

Used to be a Wimpy Bar in Belfast in the 80s. I can't remember how good it was. My brain has gone.

Definitely it has to be "In & Out Burgers". A mom and pop place that started out in the Los Angele County area back in the 1950's, they are now located throughout California, Arizona and Nevada. Just three types of burgers on the menu, plus fires, Coke and milkshakes. Everthing made fresh on the spot, nothing frozen or under the heat lamps. Simplicity at it's best.

White Castle, or Krystal's as it's known here in the south, is an acquired taste. We call them gut bombs or they are also known as sliders because they are so greasy they can just slide down your throat without chewing them.

The way I look at them is that is what you eat when you just really don't give a damn. They also say if you're out drunk at 2am you have to get some Krystal's.

About the only positive thing I can say about them is they are the perfect food to eat if you are driving because they only require one hand to eat them with.

Of the major fast food chains in America: Mcdonalds, Burger King, Wendys, Pizza Hut, Arbys, Kentucky Fried Chicken, my favorite is Wendys. I love their grilled chicken sandwich and this chilled dessert called the Frosty. It is served in a glass, but it is too thick to drink, so you have to use a long plastic spoon which is supplied.

Now in 2016 there are many other big fast food chains: Portillo's which is mostly hot dogs. Steak&Shake, which has hamburgers with a small percentage of different cuts of steak, and over 50 different milk shakes, and one of the largest in size:Culvers which serves their famous Butterburger which is a hamburger which has butter spread on one side of the bun before it is cooked. They also have a huge menu of cooked meals including fish meals, a really good Reuben sandwich, and they also serve 139 flavors of frozen custard. I have tried all 139 flavors of this custard. It took me two years to do this and I had to go to over 39 different franchises to do this, because each franchise has only about 30 different custard flavors each month.
