Default New VEF problem getting worse

About a month ago I started having a problem where I'd click on a thread, which would open fine, but it would take two back button clicks to get back to the previous main forum page I had just been on.

Now it's taking four back button clicks to go back one page. So I right-clicked the back button and discovered the unresponsive clicks are all something called http//banners(dot)askmecca(dot)com.

I have Adblock+, malwarebytes and Norton which have served me great for years on IE7. Doesn't happen on other sites, but I did try VEF on FireFox and the multiple clicking isn't happening there. IE prob? VEF prob? Ideas?

Had the same problem a good while back and I never knew if it was a firefox update that cured it or vef or what but it finally fixed itself.

I started thinking the opposite - that it was an IE update that screwed things up!

How long did it take for it to clear itself, brk549?

It's probably an IE issue combined with whoever the ad banner supplier is here at the forum.

We have no control over the ads, the owners select them and that's how they pay the bills. To be honest, even with the addons you're using on IE, I would switch browsers if I were you considering that even the latest versions are like swiss cheese when it comes to security issues

Nope that happened to me a few weeks ago. I went to edit something and all I got was an empty reply box.

Exactly. How can u use a prog (IE7) which is totally outdated and not supported by Microsoft anymore. There is absolutely no reason for that. Use FF in combination with addons (noscript, Adblock) and u will have less probs. FF runs perfect on older systems too, it is small, use less ressources and it is fast and ready for the year 2014. It is not the website alone that is responsible for the security of the users, the user is responsible for his own security too.

I found Firefox incredibly slow.

I have been using Palemoon, upon others recommendations, and that has been great! I also have ad blocker and no script. I also use Avast free AV, but will update to their pro version.

Ive just installed Palemoon, will see if its better for my browsing, adding ad blocker uses an extra 100mb of memory, so removed(same as with firefox).
