Tried to go vegan but just impractical if you want to eat outside the home. Being a veggie is hard enough.
I used to visit abbatoirs for a job and was horrified at the state of meat before it goes into the food chain. |

I have to have energy to do the work I do and there's none in vegetables.I burn a lot of calories a day and I'm one of the few people left that has to work for the money I make.Eat a salad and I'm hungry in a half an hour.

- Venus and Serena Williams (tennis) - Timothy Bradley and David Haye (boxing) - David Carter (NFL) - Patrick Baboumian And by the way, energy means a high carb diet, not calories per se, you can find those complex sugars in rice, corn, pasta, all kind of cereals, bananas too, so it's not about meat at all. Meat of course gives you proteins, but protein is only a muscle feeder, it won't help you having energy for a hard work day. Tennismen like Federer or Djokovic use only few proteins AFTER training, but they use a massive amount of carbs BEFORE. For example Djokovic only eats a few chicken pieces for dinner, and... that's all: no dairy, no eggs, no gluten of course as he advocates for a gluten-free diet, means no wheat pasta, only rice and corn pasta. As a mediterranean guy he loves hoummos. Since I went vegan 2 years ago, my everyday life job, musician, really changed: I couldn't stand more than 1h30 on a scene at gigs, now it's sometimes 4 to 5 hours in a row ! as a bassist I have to wear heavy instruments on my shoulder and my back, plucking heavy strings too, I've experienced many issues (back, joints, tendinitis). No back or joints problem anymore now, no tendinitis too. I was kind of obese for sure, hey you know what it is: packing gears-rehearsal- beer - rehearsal - packing gear - eating kebabs (gyros) outside - packing gear - concert - beer - pizzas or cold buffet full of... meat - packing gear - go home ! now I pack the meal I need before a gig outside, I've lost only maybe 20 pounds since 2 years, I weighted 95 kg and only 1m65 tall ! in fact yes I'm a fat vegan, but it's cool now, I can do everything I need with way more energy than before. We are way more like primates, apes or gorillas for examples: same gastrointestinal system, same teeth... apes and gorillas are 99% frugivores, eat only insects from time to time, and even their... own shit ! (coprophages primates) which gives them enough B12 vitamin (yep, the bacteria that produces B12 is in the gastrointestinal system). Gorillas have big canines too, Hippopotamus have big ones too... but they are not carnivorous at all, and hippos are 100% vegan. |

I'm an agnostic, do I have to kill some christians, jews or muslims because they've killed many unbelievers before me ?
If it's useless, why would I have to kill ? "Useless" is the key word here: in our everyday life as (mostly) western people, living in aboundance, eating meat is simply useless... well to vegans of course. Now, say we're in a desert, or in the North Pole, sure I'll manage to get some meat by hunting to survive, I'm not stupid (well, I don't think so ) |

Would you still eat animals if vegan foods would have the same taste?
The question is quite clear (as long as I correctly wrote it in English)
As I already told you, I've stopped to eat animals since 18 years and all diary products since 5 years. That's purely a question of ethic, even if I never really liked mammals flesh. When I speak with friends, some of them don't care about animals, others never thought about this, others tell me: I love animals, but I love too much the taste. Honestly when I started to stop eating animals... it was difficult. I really liked chicken breasts. During the first two years I had to find new products. There were some books to learn how to cook, but very few vegan foods were available in the shops. Now everything is ok. But it was 18 years ago... And I can say that the Anglo-Saxon business contributed a lot to democratize these products in the rest of Europe. France was at least 10 years late. So I rarely, rarely meet people who tell me: "I don't care about animals, they are nothing." But I meet more people telling me: "I love too much to eat a good beefsteak." So would you still eat animals, if vegan foods would have the same taste as your favorite meat? |
