I think the way you do it is time x poundage in other words the bigger the turkey the longer you need to cook it. If you want a good turkey you need to butter it, flavour it, and use plenty of herbs. Cut up parsnips, carrots, onions etc-one up the parsons' nose of the turkey, then every so often baste it. Some people leave it in the oven overnight but it needs a good long cooking time. There are loads of tips in cookbooks and I am sure the web will provide help too.

Billy,

Being the evil sod that I am, I was tempted to say what a clever turkey you had, as I have never heard of one that can cook! But......as it's christmas, I'll be considerate!!

Actually, I don't like turkey very much, far too dry, and if you are unlucky enough to get a cock bird and not a hen, then the taste is aweful - far too many hormones!

However, I did have one one year at a friends, and they had filled the turkey with vegetables, though I prefer stuffing personally, and they put butter under the skin on the breast and a little bit of lemon too. It was gorgeous! Really tasty, and the meat was very moist, not dry like turkey usually is.

Sorry Mods, a bit off topic here..........I'll go and stand in the corner.......

Take one large Turkey , remove all the bones, spread it out on a baking tray, put a couple of nice shoulders of studded with Garlic and sprinkled with Rosemary lamb on top of the spread out Turkey , place in a fan assisted oven on 170 to painfully slowly roast.

Take out tray, remove lamb.

Scrape all the Turkey into a bowl for a disbelieving cat.

I can`t stand Turkey

Ok ok that`s not totally true , i don`t mind swallowing the dark meat (As Sir Cliff once said to Chris Akabusi ).

So guess what dear Sister has insisted on for the 25th.

Turkey crown

Yep, as in a legless one

Which is something i can`t afford to be since if she sense`s any weakness she`ll strike
