Default New bugs on Windows 10

Apart from the disappearing act of some files (this bug is acknowledged
by users but not Microsoft) the company Cymulate has found a pot lential
security flow as expessed below :

Abusing Microsoft Office Online Video
October 25, 2018 by Avihai Ben-Yossef

Cymulate’s research team has discovered
a way to abuse the Online Video feature on Microsoft Word to execute malicious code (Read the press release here).

Attackers could use this for malicious purposes such as phishing,
as the document will show the embedded online video with a link to YouTube,
while disguising a hidden html/javascript code that will be running in the background and could potentially
lead to further code execution scenarios.

This attack is carried out by embedding a video inside a Word document, editing the XML file
named document.xml, replacing the video link with a crafted payload created by the attacker which opens Internet Explorer Download Manager with the embedded code execution file.

A workflow of how this security flaw could be produced:
1. Create a Word Document.
2. Embed an online video: Insert -> online video and add any YouTube video.

This is a never-ending list of defaults in Windows 10.

I must add another anomaly : when typing you must be extremely careful otherwise you realise the text is NOT the one you intended.

This is becoming really tiring.

Default New update of an update

After a delay of six weeks, Microsoft has finally released a brand new "October Update" for Windows 10 which claims to have fixed all the bugs which plagued its predecessor.

I guess, from now on, Windows 10 users can look forward to totally trouble free computing.
There's a first time for everything, I suppose.

Default More October Update problems.

It was obviously too good to last.
Only a week after announcing that the latest "October Update" (actually released in November) had fixed all the bugs in the actual October Update, another two bugs have been discovered.
The Windows 10 update apparently prevents users of iCloud from updating software for that tool. Also users of F5 VPN software are facing a similar problem.

Apparently, Microsoft and Apple are "working closely together" to fix the former. Yeah, Right!

Default Another insolved situation

Catweasel28 was too nice with Microsoft.

One moment I thought Catweasel28 was right, but not long.

It seems the updates are made two-fold.
After the first part everything seemed ok (and I am not usually friendly with MS).

But two days or three later there was a new update, probaby for Office.

It seems this is the one which plays havoc with the system.

I cannot understand why a company which is declining (Google is taking their place) do not take more seriously his clients' wishes.

I understand why so many users who liked the various Windows now look at other systems.

Arrogance and power-hunger. MicroSoft has never been in business to satisfy customers. They have always been in business to control computing. Its why they don't follow the standards set by the rest of the industry, why they tweak their own software to be incompatible with everyone else's. It's why they don't care about client satisfaction so long as they continue to have dominance over _business_ computing. Personal computing is just a sideline to help reinforce their control over office computing.

Yes, and you know one think is surprising : when discussing Windows 10 with other programmers I found one who took time to demonstrate it is the same kernel as in windows 7.
He thought well of Windows 10.

Yet he was an experienced programmer.
For him the problem was in all the small peripherics.

That was the only one though.
I think he was far from the reality the users are confronted with.

Another programmer explained to me that he wanted to stay with Windows 7 because of the sluggishness of Windows 10.
He was right of course.

You are right when you say that Microsoft have always been in business to control computing.
But now I never go anymore to MS's presentations.

Ironically enough, if Microsoft maintain their biannual updating schedule, the next update is due to be rolled out on 1st April 2019.

Mr. Nadella certainly has a sadistic sense of humour.

This creep is not worth of managing Microsoft, yet the shareholders gave him the power to do that.
We can call their decision a deadly blessing.
