2017 - Round 1
http://www.afl.com.au/ladder
results http://www.afl.com.au/fixture Got to love how virtually none of the experts picked any of the upsets Richmond actually beating Carlton - many thought they'd choke again Port Power beating Sydney (last years losing grand finalist) away Essendon beating Hawthorn Brisbane beating Gold Coast away The 3 perceived 50/50s St kilda blown away by Melbourne - Saints still also rans or Melbourne a new force Adelaide beating GWS (Flag favourites) in a run and gun contest easily in the end at home Geelong thrashing Fremantle (still cant believe they thought Freo were a chance)at home About the only ones they got right North Melbourne losing badly to West Coast at home Collingwood losing to Western Bulldogs Last edited by buttsie; March 27th, 2017 at 12:56 AM.. I used to watch Aussie Rules many moons ago when channel 4 showed it. I chose Essendon as my team. I can't remember why. I remember players like Van der Haar, Brereton, Jim Steins and Warwick Capper. Capper would later confirm my opinion of him as a total dickhead while appearing on Australian celebrity apprentice.
Anyhow, I sort of got back into it via BT sport late into last season. Essendon finished bottom but the Grand Final was a sensational game and now it looks like my weekends will be even more sports packed. Gonna have to try and get back into Arena football too. Their season starts in just over a week.

I've been a sort of richmond supportor from afar for a number of years, without much joy or success.
However I was impressed by their fightback and win this morning against Collinwood, who always seem to have a pretty good and successful team. |

Great win by the Dons given the crap they've been through
They've always been a mentally tough & resillient club for a long time Just like Richmonds 2 wins over 2 teams destined to go nowhere probably tempered with a look towards who they beat Hawthorn minus Mitchell , Lewis & a suspended Hodge...thats their 3 peat leadership group I didnt think Hawthorn were susceptible but we'll know for sure when they take on a rampaging Adelaide at the MCG with Hodge back. I think they might might lose again - 3/4 new players who used to always know when to go makesa team average if they dont I listened to hodge on the Game Richmond v Collinwood - he doesnt miss anything Nathan Buckley - "I'm not the Messiah just a lost cause it would seem" His trades to Collingwoods are bizarre |

When hawthorn lose to Gold Coast I''ll laugh as they should beat them by 20 goals given GCs current form Poor Gary Ablett Jnr - 2 more years on a million dollar salary but he wants out but the coach & club wont do what he wants....theres someone to laugh at GEELONG coach Chris Scott has refused to fuel speculation that the Cats are open to recruiting their former champion Gary Ablett at the end of the season. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-04-0...ys-chris-scott Curious thing with Hawthorn is it appears to be the loss of 3 Admin/football department mainstays who kept Clarkson in check thats led to them trading away Jordan the sniper lewis & their best and fairest Sam Mitchell. One wonders what you'd be thinking when asking for Ty Vickery to join the 3 peat squad. Last edited by buttsie; April 5th, 2017 at 05:40 AM.. Reason: adding |
