They'll be interviewed about the tournament in subsequent decades and obviously mention what a crucial part Australia played in their success, by giving them their toughest match Schumacher's ruin everything. |

FWIW I think the sides were pretty even - 98 had Thuram, Desailly, Zidane and Lisarazeau - there again they also had LeBeouf. The 82 side wasn't as strong defensively, but both had great midfields and largely innocuous strikers. The Germany match was tremendous but there was that bloody awful, unpunished foul.

2018 was a genious Deschamps 's defensive creation. 1982 1986 were incredible but didn't win. Sincerely, if my french football to every level should turn to this, I would leaveBurk... |

Bayern 2-3 Man City / Utd 1-4 Liverpool
In the universal play everywhere cup
Bayern were 90% Full team Man City were 95% Academy City were down by two goals after 20 odd minutes...Robben scoring one. City had 6 teenagers on the field, more on the bench. Mahrez was helped off after an ankle crush and Silva (B) replaced him and scored twice.... alongside the goalie Bravo...they were City's senior players. Most of those kids will not see a Prem bench this season, probably loaned out for fitness and first team footie ~ imo ~ which goes to show that there must be some incredible training and education going on under Pep's guidance/governance. ............ Jose played kids as well... well a few.... as did Liverpool...only Jose made a big pre-match statement about his 'young' side, and he was prepared to lose sometime in the USA. What I did notice was an incredibly inept defence from Utd. Shoving in the back is the new Carrington-Technique ? In the Penalty area...jeez.... roll on Var I know Utd have a history of hardly ever having a penalty conceded at OT... VAR might change that Sturridge scored with his first touch... and Shaqiri with a beautiful overhead kick on his debut.... both of them subs... Like Man City.... I don't think we'll see many of the Liverpool / City / Utd players sitting on their team benches this season.... BUT... what a future we may have at last ............ An aside...... Villa just got 2 Forbes Billionaires to take control of the club. They can't spend because of FFP rulings... way over the top already.... but they can and have, apparently blocked transfers of their "jewels". Hence Levy (Spurs) being satanised on Twittles ~ by Spurites ~ for poncing about and delaying ~ thinking Villa were sunk financially and Grealish would come cheaper at the end of the window. I'm thinking Levey got off ...£20 mill for a non-prem player When the original asking price was £40 mill for a guy that scored about 3 Championship goals. I hope those Spurs' fans apologise in a year's time.... |

We had a VEF league last PL season, so does anyone fancy doing the same for 2018/19?
PL has two different scoring formats this season:
Not really knowing what the head-to-head thing is all about, I've created a VEF league in each of the formats. If you fancy selecting a team and joining a league of like-minded perverts, visit https://fantasy.premierleague.com/a/, select a squad of 15 players, and join one or preferably both of these by clicking the 'Leagues' tab. League Name: VEF classic Code to join this league: 1422838-338307 League Name: VEF head-to-head Code to join this league: 1422838-338325 .

World Cup 2022: Fifa need to conduct "independent investigation" into Qatar bid claims
Football's world governing body Fifa has been urged to conduct an "independent investigation" into claims the Qatar 2022 World Cup bid team ran a secret campaign in 2010 to sabotage competing host bids.
The chairman of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport select committee Damian Collins said the "serious allegations", published in the Sunday Times, would be a breach of Fifa's rules if true. "It requires a proper independent investigation and Fifa should make clear that will happen," he said. Speaking on BBC Radio 5 live, he added: "If the Qataris have broken the rules, they should face some sanctions." In a statement Qatar's Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy said it "rejects each and every allegation put forward by the Sunday Times". The paper claims to have seen leaked documents that show the Qatari bid team employed a US PR firm and ex-CIA agents to smear its rivals - mainly the United States and Australia. The alleged aim was to create propaganda to give the impression that a World Cup would not be supported domestically. The Qatar tournament organisers deny the allegations. Xherdan Shaqiri scored an exquisite overhead kick as Liverpool thrashed Manchester United 4-1 in the International Champions Cup in front of 101,254 fans in Ann Arbor. Bayern were 2-0 ahead inside 25 minutes, Meritan Shabani heading the first goal before Arjen Robben doubled the lead after Franck Ribery's pass. City lost new £60m signing Riyad Mahrez to an ankle injury in the first half. His replacement Bernardo Silva pulled a goal back before 19-year-old Lukas Nmecha poked home the equaliser, Silva netting the winner from 15 yards.
