502 and 504 Gateway errors

I assume these are related to the current work to remove the exploit as per the announcement but I just wanted to post this for the information of the powers that be.

For about 48 hours as of the time of this writing I've been getting various Gateway errors preventing me from viewing the site about 90% of the time. It appears that something is reaching the VEF server(s) since my "last visited" time corresponds to a failed attempt to access the forum, but I don't see anything back from VEF during those attempts.

Same problem here. I'v tried to log on for two days now, and only succeed one time.

I've only just managed to get on since yesterday morning but I see other people have been able to.

Not been able to log in for a couple of days. The 'Is it down?' site I use has reported VEF as being 'Down' all that time. Finally got on now.

Having problems again since my earlier post and site very slow.

I also have only managed to get on at strange times (presumably when traffic lower), and with the same error as the others have reported i.e. '502 and 504 Gateway errors'.

While locked out I was able to ping the site ....

C:\>ping www.vintage-erotica-forum.com

... so I knew it was still active. But it seems that effectively many site users are locked out for the majority of the time.

Do 'Sysadmin' have any idea why disabling all the plugins would cause this gateway access problem and can they fix this first?

According to our sister site it's being caused by a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack
