I didn't see this program listed, if it is, forgive me.

In the past I have used the usual big bloatware CD/DVD burners until I found this freeware program which works like a charm. Small program and does what it is meant to do without the useless features.

Default Snap Links extension for Firefox

I searched the site and didn't see this very useful extension mentioned anywhere.

Snap Links allows users to easily open multiple links in new tabs by drawing a box around them. Links can also be opened in new windows, new tabs on a new window, copied to clipboard, bookmarked or downloaded. Quite useful when you want to open a bunch of links.

Been a while since I've went through this thread so I'm sorry if this has been posted before - WinFF is a video converter which gives variable results, however, it is the best FLV to AVI converter I used yet and it's 2-pass results are excellent.

Default Defraggler

http://www.defraggler.com/

Defraggler is a free file defragmentation tool made by the same people that brought us CCleaner.

''It differs from other defrag tools on the market, by enabling you to quickly and simply defrag the files you want to, without having to process the whole drive. Simply run it, select the file and defragment in seconds. No more struggling with the Windows defragmentation tool!''

I find this program useful as anything I download is saved to 'my downloads' on my HD and then the files moved to their respective folders when I have the time. The 'my downloads' folder gets fragmented a lot so being able to select this folder instead of the whole drive saves a lot of time. I use defraggler on a daily basis and think its great, so I thought i'd share it here...

Default CDisplay

This is the program I use to look at pictures in a .zip file, without having to decompress the file. This program has been build to display comics, but it is very usefull to display any book or mag in a .zip (or .rar, .ace, .tar) file.

Default For faster downloads of movies files

I found this by luck. I was looking for a software to do something else.

I am not a member of any sites. As a free user, downloading is slow everywhere.

Megaupload is the best : I got about 100 K/s
FileFactory, Deposit, ********** (E-S banned now since 2 days) ) are about 50 K/s
Rapidshare about 45 K/s.

NOW READ THIS...WOW!!!

With Megaupload, now I get 875 K/s with peaks to 950 K/s
With Rapidshare : 240 K/S
The now banned E-S gives me a steady 400 K/s with peaks to 700 k/s

It is 6 times faster and more !!!

It is called TCP Optimizer done by speedguide.com and it is free.

This is a link where you'll get another link to download the software but it is also a tutorial on how to install and use.

I haven't been able to contribute much since joining here, so let me offer a little tool I've found to be extremely useful.

Tucan is a download (and upload) manager for file hosting sites. It is self-updating and very good at getting past r*pidsh*re captcha. You can copy an entire page of RS links and it will parse them and download them all for you, so you can queue it and forget it. Best of all, it's open source free software, and works on multiple operating systems--a huge relief for us Linux or Mac users! Check it out at the official homepage.

Ubuntu users like me can find installable packages at www.getdeb.net

I've used this program and its not caused any harm which is probably the best thing you can say about any tune-up utility

Reviews & comparisons of glary and other similar programs can be found via the link below
along with almost any category you can think of

The introduction pretty much says it all

"I will start with a caution. These programs no matter how good they are may sometimes cause harm to your computer. With the steps below however you can avoid most problems very easily."

One of the best sites I've ever come across that not only reviews freeware, allows feedback from users and has tutorials and comparisons to shareware and above is this site

Anyone using a netbook and who is thinking of upgrading to windows 7 in the future or using the beta version now, there is an issue with the screen size.I cant vouch for it as I'm not using a notebook myself but the solution comes from Jacques(technical wizard to say the least-(some may know him from the o/t forum on bgafd.co.uk or thehuffers.com)
who is using a Samsung NC-10 as his main PC.

"the screen resolution is 1024 x 600, many programs require a minimum of 768 to install them. There is a work around though but it's not ideal. You need to use something like Rocket Dock as the desktop size is too small for shortcut icons."
